Appearance: Dark brown/black hair, light green eyes, a mole on his right earlobe, medium athletic build, strong features. Obviously takes good care of his appearance.

Early life: Eric was born on the Mars Colony to human parents. His father was a Starfleet scientist, and his mother was a homemaker. Rachel was what could be called a 'bleeding heart' and (unknown to Ian) was recruited by the Maquis for intelligence gathering. After the fall of the Occupation, Rachel went to Bajor to offer aid for a year as she had trained as a doctor before marrying. When she returned, she brought home a Bajorian orphan by the name of Tirala. After many arguments about how inappropriate it was for her to have done so, Ian eventually agreed to adopt the child, thinking it would be unfair to send her back. The 8 year old Eric enjoyed having a younger sibling to speak to, and the 5 year old Tirala adored him, and treated him like a hero. Eventually, the family became very close and shared almost everything - the two children especially, however, Rachel never disclosed her secret to her husband.

When Eric was accepted for the Academy, Ian was overjoyed, and threw a huge party in honor of his son. At some point during the party, Ian went off to accept a communication from Starfleet, and never returned. Starfleet denied ever placing a call, and all inquiries came up empty. Eric, who had been close to his father, was distraught, and was disgusted when his mother and sister didn't seem to be effected as badly as he was. There were many cross word spoken, and Eric moved to San Francisco nearly 4 months before he was due to start the Academy, and never spoke to either his sister or mother again. He made arrangements for his majors to be changed, so that he could go into security and intelligence, rather than science, in order to find out what had happened to Ian.

Academy: Eric worked extemely hard during his years at the Academy. He seemed to have to work twice as hard as some of the others in his class, as he had not been expecting to be taking certain courses. After a few months of struggling, he found his feet and began to make up lost ground, excelling in his chosen studies by the end of the second year. He was ordered to report to regular counceling, given his family issues, and the fact that some of his professors expressed a concern in some slightly obsessive behaviour when it came to his father. This was eventaully reduced from once a week to fortnightly, then dropped, as he seemed to be dealing with the issue better. He became the captain of the Academy wrestling and boxing teams and graduated with honors.

Medical: Occasional trouble sleeping. No other issues.

Psychological: Eric was sent to the Academy councelor to help him deal with the loss of his father and some obsessional behaviour surrounding it. As Eric seemed to come to terms with his loss, the counceling was eventually reduced and then stopped. His records note that a diagnosis of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder had been discussed, but was disregarded as the symptoms he exhibited reduced during counceling, and continued to do so after the therapy had ended.
