Physical Characteristics:

Ayla has long, curly black hair which she often has pulled off her face. She has very light hazel eyes and the leaf shaped forehead ridge that is typical of all Napeans. She is tall and has a strong, lean body. She possesses very strong empathic skills but cannot read thoughts. However, she can communicate with other telepaths, especially if their abilities are strong.

Service Record:

2370- Entered the psychology program at the Academy through Starfleet Medical at the age of 16. She did an accelerated Honours undergraduate program and graduated in two years.

2372- Assigned to the USS Thunderchild as an Ensign and Jr. Counsellor.

2373- The USS Thunderchild participated in the Battle of Sector 001 with the Borg.

2374- Completed her Masters in Abnormal Psychology & Criminal Behaviour.

2374- 76- Promoted to Lt j.g and made the aCNS on the USS Thunderchild during the Dominion War.

2376-77- Assigned as a Crisis Counsellor post-war counselling war survivors, many of whom had PTSD.

2378- Completed her Doctorate and assigned as the CNS to Starbase 81.

2380- Assigned as a Behavioural Rehabilitation Specialist to the Tantalus Penal Colony.

2381- Promoted to full Lieutenant.

2386- Attacked telepathically by an escaping patient.

Personal Background:

Born to a Peace Officer (Joro) and a Nurse (Silaya), Ayla grew up curious about the behaviour and well being of people. A focused and hard worker, she quickly moved ahead in her studies, facilitating an early acceptance into the Academy.

She met and married Edward Sharise, a Starfleet security officer, during her assignment at the Tantalus Colony. They divorced in 2385, citing 'irreconcilable differences', over having children.

Ayla is an accomplished weaver, focusing her art on tapestries, which she creates in her spare time to help her relax. She is also trained in four different marital arts: akido, Mok'bara, Suus Mahna and Taekwondo and regularly meditates.

Medical/ Psychological:

Ayla is in very good physical health and actively takes care of herself. She has no known medical issues.

Psychologically, Ayla was coping with a telepathic attack by one of her patients (Tralin) at Tantalus who was attempting to escape. The matter is further complicated by her ex-husband’s participation in the escape, as the patient was a childhood friend of Edward’s. Ayla testified against her ex-husband and he was eventually convicted for his part in Tralin's escape.
