: : : : : : : : : : R'han stared at the system and exhaled. "I can encrypt their tactical systems and controls, but I doubt it would stop them for very long as they are far more fluent with their systems than I am. The only thing that will have a true long term impact is crashing components of their core... I can delete their tracking subprograms.. that would require a download and reboot? I can set up an computer link so we can see what they are doing here for a while... but again it depends on how carefully they search. I'll set it to send a microburst every ten minutes and whenever they power up tactical systems."

: : : : : : : : : Stark smiled in an almost feral way. "If and when they find it they'll come at us with that typical "How could you do this to us" argument. We need a back story for why we did it. Something along the lines of "We were concerned that somebody evil was still on board and wanted to protect ourselves" defence". Thoughts gentlemen?

: : : : : : : : A flashing light on the console alerted Stylk that something was happening in their vicinity. "The Romulan ship has been fired upon and the ship that did it has cloaked and gone to warp. Quick R'han, something in this tin can must be able to follow their trail, see if you can find it".

: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : "Scanning," R'han scanned the area for residual particles and possibly an ion trail. "I've detected an impulse turn at coordinates 241- 251- 63." That detail revealed little however as the sweeps continued he might be able to formulate a course as the ship probably didn't maneuver much after recloaking instead attempting to run as quickly as possible from as situation in which they were significantly over matched.

: : : : : : Stark didn't hesitate "Give me your best projected course from that heading and we'll take our best shot in the dark. At the moment without further information it's all we've got to go on".

: : : : : : Stark XO
: : : : :
: : : : : R'han pursed his lips, he didn't care what anyone said Federation scanners were more sophisticated than Romulan. "The trail leads 013 mark 121... roughly. The trail dispersed quickly which suggests they went to warp almost immediately or came to a complete stop."

: : : :
: : : : Stark bit his bottom lip. 'It's the best shot we've got at the moment but first let's hear from our "allies"
: : : :
: : : : =/\= Commander Stark to Romulan vessel, our best guess is 013 mark 121. Do you concur and are you ready to pursue? =/\=
: : : :
: : : : Stark XO
: : :
: : : The Romulan vessel replied =/\= Confirming those coordinates. Suggest we advance as a group. Our best estimate of the vessels speed states that we will not catch this vessel by speed alone. We must advance and look for clues of a possible course change =/\=.
: : :
: : : =/\= Acknowledged and thankyou =/\= Stark replied then turned to R'han. "Best speed in the direction of those coordinates Mr R'han".

: : R'han tilted his head and moved from the tactical station to helm control. "Engaging warp drive," He re-oriented the ship along the course and began a slow warp progression to Warp 8. He would monitor the effects before accelerating any more. It wasn't like the ship had only recently averted a quantum singularity detonation.

: : R'han CTO
:
: Damaged systems groaned and the last vestiges of the almost inoperative cloaking system failed as the ship went to warp, a slight tremor in the deckplates betraying their acceleration. As the ship reached warp five point nine, warnings began to sound and the automatic safety systems asserted themselves, slowing the ship to warp five point five and monitoring the still damaged singularity.

=/\= Burnett to R'han, I wouldn't recommend attempting to push past warp 6. The repairs we've made are temporary at best, Warp 6 is the current maximum, and given the status of the rest of the ship, I can't guarantee that propulsion will remain stable. =/\=

Burnett
