Background:

Raised in Curiaú, outside of the north-eastern city of Maçapa, Carmen lived a quiet life around the Amazonian city. Her mother raised her on her own, and although Carmen asked about her father now and again, Yaritzia wasn't able to tell her much at the time due to security issues.

Restless and wanting to explore, Carmen applied herself diligently at school, earning top marks through her keen mind and eidetic memory. She knew early on that she wanted to join Starfleet, and leave Earth.
