Anna was born and raised in Notre-Dame du Nord, Quebec, Canada. She
met and later married Jacy Etchemin during a high school basketball
game. The two became very close and the marriage was arranged between
the two families. Anna moved to Wolf Lake, Quebec, Canada where they
lived for two years before Jacy was offered a job in Pawtucket, RI as
an engineer. They travel back to the reservation for festivals and
holidays to visit family. Anna and Jacy insisted on all five of the
children knowing their culture and participating in it as much as
possible.
Nadie was born two years after Anna and Jacy were married. Born on 24
December, Nadie was a Christmas miracle for the couple after they had
been told that they would not be able to have children for various
medical reasons. So Nadie was a special child to the family, however
was not spoiled.
When Nadie was 4, her brothers were born. Keme and Kitchi were
unexpected but welcomed with open arms. 6 years later Odina and Opa
were born and the family was complete. Nadie was charged with caring
for her younger siblings when she was old enough and her parents
needed to go out. Nadie was very protective of the younger children
and often got into fights to protect her younger brothers and sisters.
Nadie also followed in her father’s footsteps and found a knack for
engineering. Jacy would take Nadie to work with him and she would
watch and learn and then at home, they would work on small projects to
fine tune her skills. In school, Nadie excelled in her shop classes
and often was far more advanced than her peers. Attending local
schools, she did well in all of her classes, she also enjoyed
literature and history.
During breaks, Nadie participated in local theater productions and
when she completed her final year at Goff Middle School she decided to
attend Jacqueline Walsh School for Performing Arts for high school.
Nadie followed the theater course at the school.

Her primary focus was on set construction, however she also acted. Nadie was given the
opportunity to explore her musical talents as well as her artistic
talents in all of these areas, her passion remained in engineering and
the technical aspects of theater.

Graduating from high school, Nadie spent the first few months sitting
at home, she was unsure of what she wanted to do. She had been
looking through schools to see about college and then spoke with a
recruiter from Star Fleet. He had been an engineer when he first
started in Star Fleet and as he spoke, Nadie found that she was more
interested in the opportunities that the organization offered.

After speaking with her parents, Nadie left Pawtucket and headed for San
Francisco to attend the academy where she studied engineering, in
particular warp mechanics and demolitions. She continued to follow
through on music and theater but now she was happy to be working on
engines and other mechanical things. Graduating from Star Fleet
Academy, she was assigned to the USS Resolution as her chief engineer.
