: : : : : : : : : : Starfleet computer systems operated an external override system utilising a five digit encrypted prefix code which could be used to issue simple commands to a ships systems in times of emergency. Romulan systems utilised a similar system, operated by the defunct Tal'Shiar to allow them to take command of a ship should its crew prove disloyal to the Praetor. There was a sequence of very specific Romulanesque characters buried deep in the viral base code. Nineteen groupings of numbers in repeated sequences. If they were in standard text, they would most certainly qualify as Starfleet prefix codes.

: : : : : : : : : "I might have descovered a way to implement the override strategy, Lieutenant." Casira announced swiftly as she isolated the numbers in the scrolling data feed. Her database memory contained a reasonably complete file of Romulan language and dialect, so it was a relatively simple task for her to delve into it's annals looking for matches to the symbols as she set about translating the digits into usable code. "GORBI," she called as she worked, "please attempt a direct data link with the unknown vessel's computer system and prepare to send the code I will give you as a priority transmission."

: : : : : : : : Dan congratulated Casira on her quick thinking and analytical skills. Dan leaned forward a bit in his chair as he waited for GORBI to respond.

: : : : : : : The still brooding avatar muttered under his breath as his eyes took on a faraway expression "Do dis GORBI, do dat GORBI... GORBI never get to do for himself..." He blinked twice and her console beeped to confirm that a tentative data connection had been established, but only for transmit, not receipt. It was weak, but it should be enough to transmit the code.

: : : : : : Even despite the urgency of the situation, the Lieutenant could not resist a swift, slightly scathing glance in the hologram's direction at his mumrured complaints. "I said 'please'."

"Transmitting codes now." she announced immediately as her gaze flicked back to her console, fingers playing quickly across the illuminated buttons to activate the required systems. "Attempting to access their main computer and disable engine control, stand by."

: : : It was clear that the Romulan system had some significant disadvantages in combatting the code versus GORBI's efforts. Despite representing those who had comissioned and created the virus, they were surprisingly unprepared to defend against its electronic variant. Within seconds, their opponents main computer core was down and they had complete access. Casira's order to disable engines was processed and accepted, the engines shutting down almost immediately, locking out all access internally. Their opponent was dead in the water. The Warbird that shadowed them immediately decloaked and swooped in to cut off any access Athena might like to gain, a text warning coming in that Romulan authorities would handle the case.

: : : : : "Excellent work work Lieutenant. Thank you GORBI. We could not have done this without you." Dan felt a bit odd thanking a hologram but thought a little thanks would improve it's mood.

: : : GORBI actually smiled, bouncing back and forth on his feet a little before another seemingly sour mood took his wild avatar and he muttered "Of course you kud not haf done it vidout me!"

: : : : : Leaning back in his chair Dan asked Casira to let him know when the enemy craft's engines had been disabled. Dan then tapped his combadge.

"Access codes have acchived the desired effect Lieutenant." Casira announced smoothly as the systems on board the rennegade vessel began shutting down. "Enemy ship is under our control. Attempting to locate the Captain's commbadge or biosignature." She tapped on the controls, accessing the sensor array as she started to scan the small vessel.

: : Dan, seeing that the craft had come to a dead stop and was now under the Athena's control, pounded a closed fist on the armrest of the chair he was in. "Outstanding! I will notify the XO of our success. Helm, bring us close but slowly. We do not want to provoke the Romulans at this time."

: : =/\= "Waters to Stark. The craft has come to a complete stop and is unable to engage their engines. We managed to lock them out of their own computer system and the Athena now controls that ship. What is the ETA on your rendezvous?"

: =/\= Roughly half an hour =/\= Stark's voice came back loud and clear =/\= You have a go to start a boarding action if you cannot locate and beam back the Captain. If you control the ship you should be able to locate him using their internal sensors =/\=

Casira's eyes were still scanning her console as the XO's voice came over the comm system, her brow furrowed in a frown of consternation that didn't really suit her delicate, pretty features. "Sir, the Romulans are now claiming authority over the situation and are barring our access to the stricken vessel. Their intentions are unclear, but they may take issue with or intervene in our attempt to recover the Captain."
