: : : : maybe if you swapped the UFP box and the latest news box around and kept the Navigation block where it is then you'd have Latest News at the top, where everyone can see it, and the slightly less important, though still nescessary, UFP box at the bottom.
: : :
: : : Personally, I think that the UFP box, as the main navigation box that people use, needs to be at the top.
: : :
: : : : So, if Drupal 7 is better than Drupal 6 why aren't we moving to Drupal 7 instead?

: : : I knew I should have placed a bet on how quickly someone would have jumped at the D7 comment.
: : :
: : : D7 is, currently, in Alpha release (effectively no more features are going to be added, and security critical bugs need to be ironed out). Some modules that we use (views, content, etc) will be released at the same time as D7 goes to full release. That said, a fair few of the modules we use will not be ready (I think we're still waiting for a usable D6 version of the CSS module).

: : I would NOT like to see the locations for Latest news switched with the UFP. I believe UFP should remain at the top. UFP is something that we use many times a day as we move from fleet to fleet and ship to ship. The Latest news, even if read daily, would only be used one time. Also if I am understanding your innitial comment of moving the Create content, Projects, My Account and Log out links to a position above the main text box, I am opposed to that placement. Putting anything above the main screen box would add at least one line and drop the whole main text box which would cut a line off of what is already too short for most posts. And on a smaller screen on laptops and phones which we are seem to be moving to is even worse.
: :
: : The layout is clean and effective as it stands. The red highlight for new content in the Latest news is sufficient for a heads up. And that my friends is my opinion. =D

:
: I see your points, even if put slightly forcefully :P
:
: Ok, so the question is, do we want to have a 'Fleet News' block? Would FComms find this useful? Do FComms read this ship? <BG>

Well I'm a quasi-FComm and you did ask me somewhat nicely in IRC Jack, don't say I didn't warn you. :)
I'm not sure how well the 'Fleet News Block' would be used myself. I personally have to remind myself constantly to update the academy MOTD on a semi-regular basis and to me it would be an extra thing to try and remind myself about. I suppose some FComms might see it's use, but I can see me just plain forgetting about it in the mess of other things I need to keep track of in the academy.
I guess I'm on the fence, I don't see it being used overly much in the academy, but I suppose maybe some other areas might find some use in it. :)
