: : : : : : IC: Teleri turned to the Gr'nth with a kind look. "I know all this seems overwhelming and all I can promise is that we will do everything we can to help you." She was piecing together the info she had and had a fair idea that this large fluid planet was going to go nova.
: : : : : :
: : : : : : Cyncad felt rather awkward though, as she didn't want to alarm them until she was certain and they seem to take offence the moment she tried to converse privately with Commander Avery. Teleri gave the COS a significant look. Hopefully he would understand that they needed to talk. In the very least, they needed to touch base with the ship.

: : : : : "Hmm..." the individual at an as-yet unidentified station said. "I'm registering slight damage to the hull from gamma radiation. Nothing about which to worry, but the data will be invaluable in the future."
: : : : :
: : : : : They were unaware that the hull of the Victorious was not built to withstand practically everything, and so didn't think that it was something about which to show concern.

: : : : Terleri moved quickly, the alarm etched in her delicate features. "What? How much?"
: : : :
: : : : She moved to be beside the person who had announced this latest development. Cyncad was trying to keep calm, much she was very worried. "Gamma radiation is very dangerous to us physiologically," the CSO explained. "Our ship isn't currently protected against it…"

: : :
: : : "It emitted about fifteen Grays per second for about five seconds in all directions," the individual said. "Nothing about which to be worried, really. It's barely affecting the hull, much less causing biological damage. Surely the metallurgy on your ships is much better than ours, what with the ship building technology you possess."

: : : OOC: A Gray (Gy) is equivalent to the amount of radiation required to put 1 joule in to a kilogram of mass. Radiation exposure over 30 Gy for any period of time is lethal, and exposure over 8 Gy displays immediate symptoms.
: :
: : "We can handle short-term exposure, but no, our ship's hull does not filter out this kind of radiation. We use enhanced shielding to do that." She hit her commbadge. =/\=Cyncad to the Victorious. There is significant gamma radiation in the area. I suggest you raise the metaphasic shields right quick or you're going to have a lot of sick people over there shortly. =/\=
: :
: : Teleri figured that her and Avery would be safe on the Hth'tal, but she tried accessing the system to find out for sure.

:
: There was nothing except structural readouts of the vessel that could indicate any sort of protection from any type of radiation, but the basic composition and thickness of the Hth'tal's hull was as strong as anything in a radiation lab - stronger, in fact.

OOC: Sorry for my absence
IC: Jonathan watched the CSO work and waited for an opportunity to speak with her. "Lieutenant, is there much more you can do over here, or would it be more advantageous to have you on the Victorious?"
