Looks: blue eyes and long black hair, goes to his shoulders not unlike mullets except he often wears it in a ponytail. This is the result of a lost bet with a buddy of his in the academy, when he'd go 25 he could not shave his head in an good manner until he'd turn 35. 

History James was interested in science at an early age, he blew up his first experiment when he was 7. He later took physics lessons in hope to later get into starfleet.
His academy years were easy for James, he on the other hand sometimes did some pranks on other students that weren't behaving very well, at least that was his excuse. He has a strange affection for pies and uses them very often for pranks.

Birth date: march 20th

Family:
Parents: Father, Jonathan Grey (older brother to Alexsander Grey) and his mother Susanna Grey. Both starfleet captains stationary at earth, they're both working at starfleet medical (his parents are both doctors)
Siblings: His only sibling is his younger sister Elisabeth or Liz as she's called, she is a security officer in starfleet working deep space.

His nephew Jack (Alexsanders Grey's son) is stationed on the USS Aztec

Personal history:
James was raised by his parents back in Scotland and learned at early age many things on medical but he still studied science and soon started reading more and more about physics, biology and astronomy. there he had an accident which affected his hearing, making him more vulnerable to sound, but after a surgery operation he just heard extremely well, he could hear a whisper ten meters away and a normal conversation at least 40 meters away. that 'super hearing' as he calls it makes his hearing almost as good as a ferengis. his parents let him stay on they're ship with them but after they both got they're promotion to captain they all moved back to earth and moved to the Grey family farm in north scotland. he joined starfleet at 18.
at around 20 he started favoring pipe smoking and became notorious as one of the few left.
