Savor (unrostered character)
Savor (pronouced Suvor) has medium auburn hair which he wears "cadet length". He sports a neatly trimed chin line beard that just covers his jawline and a pencil mustache. He is very fastidious about his appearance and his quarters are always neat and orderly.
His father Kerith was an astro-physicist and his mother M'Ara was a xeno-biologist and both taught at the Vulcan Science Academy, yet both had a desire to explore new life and new civilizations. So when Savor was five they joined Star Fleet and were assigned to the N.C.C. Valkrye. Savor accompanied them on their voyage.
Two years later, while on shore leave on Star Base 83 they were both killed. At first it appeared that it was a murder sucicide, but that was quickly ruled out. There were four merchant ships(two Ferangi, one Klingon and one unknown) in orbit as well as two other Federation Starships besides the Valkrye and a Bajroian science ship. The murderer and their motive were never discovered, though it was rumored that his father was working on a secret project that may or may not have been authorized by the Federation and there are also rumors that his mother was a Romulan spy. Savor's only close realtive, his father's brother Kerion felt the death brought dishonor to the family and would not take Savor in.
Captain Ben Grimm, his father's commander, felt sympathy for Savor and adopted him. In order to protect Savor from the general dangers or space and the potential threat on his life by whoever had killed his parents, he sent Savor to live with his family on earth. Savor was welcomed into the family Ben's wife Sarah and his adopted brothers Seth, Asa, and Josiah and their sister Amy treated him as though he was their actual blood brother. Savor loved the family in return and viewed them as his blood realtives as well.
For all intents and purposes Savor grew up as human. He has read a great deal of Vulcan philsophy and has spent time around Vulcan instructors at Star Fleet, and he is struggling to control his emotions. He can be quick tempered at times and there is an underlying sense of vengence that is driving him. He wants to find out who killed his parents and why, and bring them to justice. Despite Captain Grimm's determination to protect Savor he could not stay earth bound. Both his curiousity about space and the need to see his parents avenged drove him to apply for Star Fleet Academy.
Despite his love for his biological parents, he felt no real desire to follow in their professional footsteps of the hard sciences, but he did study foresnics and other criminal investigative techniques both before entering Star Fleet Academy and while there. He has also studied toxiocology and xeno-toxicology.
While some, especially Vulcans would consider his penchant towards emotionalism to be a weakness, in many ways it is a strength. He is a very intuitive young man. He has almost a sixth sense about when someone is lying and uses their body language and overall demeanor to "read" them. He is also very caring and sympathetic towards others. He is very loyal to the Federation.
He speaks Earth standard, Vulcan and Bajoran fluently and speaks a smattering of Klingon and Ferangi as well.
He knows which side of the phaser to point and usually hits what he aims at, but he rarely won any marksmanship awards. He is however a black belt in Akidio and has started to study Judo. He also thinks fast on his feet and generally trys to talk his way out of a situation (even if that means "shading the truth a bit") before resorting to violence.
In his spare time he enjoys mystery novels from across the galaxy, chess, Eighteenth century literature He owns two original Charles Dicken's works (Bleak House and a Tale Of Two Cities), and would like to collect more. Also he can be a bit of a practical joker. There was an Andorian upper-classman that had been bullying underclassman for three years making their life misreable. One day someone put an unknown substance in his dinner. The toxin was not fatal and did no real lasting damage, but the Andorain did have the runs for three days and spent two days in the infirmary. It was suspected but never proven that Savor, because of his expertise in toxicology planted the substance, but nothing was ever proven. However there were no further incidents of the Andorian bullying anyone and he eventually staightened himself out and just garduated at the end of the winter semester.
He scored near the top of his class in his core courses in investigational techniques and excelled at simulation contests that involved deductive reasoning. He was also on the debate team where he served as Captian his senior year. He did well in intrumural sports especially those involving hand eye cordination, but didn't go out for any varsity sports.
Savor is looking forward to a long career with Star Fleet.
