: : : : : : : : : =/\= Understood Lt, we'll try, although our systems are malfunctioning at the moment, are you experiencing any problems over there? =/\= she asked curiously.

: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : Teleri figured that her and Avery would be safe on the Hth'tal, but she tried accessing the system to find out for sure.

: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : There was nothing except structural readouts of the vessel that could indicate any sort of protection from any type of radiation, but the basic composition and thickness of the Hth'tal's hull was as strong as anything in a radiation lab - stronger, in fact.

: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : =/\= Not so far Captain. Their ship seems to be built with alloys that protect them naturally from stronger radiation. =/\= Cyncad replied.
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : OOC: Sorry for my absence
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : =/\= Ok, keep me updated on your progress, we'll let you know if there are any further developments here. =/\=

: : : : : : : : : : IC: Jonathan watched the CSO work and waited for an opportunity to speak with her. "Lieutenant, is there much more you can do over here, or would it be more advantageous to have you on the Victorious?"
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : Cdr Jonathan Avery
: : : : : : : : : : CSO
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : She looked at Avery with a bewildered look."Honestly, I have no idea. At the moment we're safer here until our ship has the radiation situation under control and as far the situation with the planet, I know what's happening, but I'm not sure if there is anything we can do. But it's not an overnight disaster in the making. We do have time, but at the moment, things will only get progressively worse." The CSO spoke loudly enough for the everyone to hear. She had a feeling these people did know what was happening. Perhaps they were in denial? Yes, things had picked up, but ultra-gas giants didn't experience hydrodynamic escape without someone noticing.
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Cyncad stepped from the console and eyed the aliens they were supposed to be helping. "So how long have you known what was going on?" she asked gently, not in an accusatory way. "We want to help but we all need to be working together on this. Help me help you…"
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Cyncad, CSO
: : : : : :
: : : : : : The aliens made a shrilling noise, which the computer's translator translated as "Huh?" Followed by, "We do not understand the nature of your question."
: : : : : :
: : : : : : GMM
: : : : :
: : : : : Before anything else happened, the individual at the communications station started and said, "We have a communication from the new equipment. I wasn't even sure it could work, but... well, we're getting a message. 'Starting testing on the six-point device.'"
: : : : :
: : : : : ~ GMT
: : : :
: : : : Jonathan looked at the alien who spoke with a confused expression. "What's the six-point device?"
: : : :
: : : : Cdr Jonathan Avery
: : : : COS
: : :
: : : "It's... I'm not sure we should say..."
: : : "They're trying to help."
: : : "Yes, but why should they know? They can't even make a ship hull properly."
: : : "No, but they can make them big, and apparently fast."
: : : "Oh, fine..."
: : :
: : : They acted as if the Starfleet personnel weren't even there, then looked back at Avery.
: : :
: : : "The six-point device is a ship capable of going faster than light," the individual at the communications station said. "We discovered we can communicate via a similar method to how the ship is propelled, and that was how we got the message so quickly. However, our sensors are still... limited. The test is dangerous because the vessel is going to be going faster than its sensors can receive data."
: : : "We won't know the test was a success until they send us another communication due to our own sensor delay."
: : :
: : : ~ GMT
: :
: : The CSO looked at Avery with an expression of understanding. "Sir, they have warp drive. This changes a lot of things. It would also seem that they have subspace communication."

Avery nodded, but let the CSO continue.

: :
: : Teleri turned back to the Grn'th. "What do you use for a fuel source for the six-point device?" Her mind was trying to piece things together, but this could prove a key bit of information.
:
: "Basic fusion, for the moment. We're hoping that if we can use one of our regular cores to sustain a faster-than-light velocity, we can change to a matter/anti-matter reaction," one of them said. "Of course, we can't tell you how we have acquired anti-matter. A secret of my people."
:
: : "We might be able to help with the sensor part too, since ours are very efficient," she added. Cyncad could offer to do that if they were warp capable, since the Prime Directive no longer applied.
: :
: : Teleri Cyncad, CSO
:
: "You could give us better sensors? How do they work?"
:
: ~ GMT

"We would need to see the schematics of your ship before we could give you recommendations on how to modify the sensors. Does the ship currently have a deflector shield?" The engineer in Avery was intriqued, even if it had been a few years since he had been in engineering.
