: For T'Rrran, Starbase 202 had thus far been a pleasant surprise.

: Since graduating, T'Rrran had served at the Utopia Planitia Yards as a site medic - the construction of starships involved more blood, sweat and toil than hapless furnace jockeys sometimes seemed to realize - and had then been transferred to a battleship. He had not enjoyed the latter. He was not a coward, and had served with distinction, but starships, per se, were not his thing - something he had perhaps not appreciated when going down the Starfleet path. They were too quiet.

: When living on Earth, on a simple stroll from his lodgings to a medical conference he would be exposed to the efforts of his (unfortunately bipedal) neighbour to perfect Edosian piano sonatas, the blare of the holonovellas every student on the block avidly absorbed, the perplexing barkings of the neighbour's dogs who, for some unfathomable reason, took a great aversion to the presence of a Caitian in their territory, loud invitations to join a Russian housewife in cabbage soup, equally loud invitations to go back where he came from courtesy of a Russian househusband...for such perceptive people as Caitians, the soup of noises created by a well populated environment was delicious.

: Starships, by quiet, were ruled by Starfleet military discipline. Personal activity was confined to walled off quarters, holodecks, designated social areas. Above the thrum of turbolifts, on a night shift the sound of a starship barely distinguished it from the void in which it sailed. Thus under-nourished, Shrr'lykarhh had grown restless. It had affected his work - frustrating, perversely, his desire to get transferred to a starbase as his performance evaluations dipped - and led to a reputation as overly gregarious, too eager to please, a little eccentric.

: But already on Starbase 202, one mere perambulation of the commercial district had seen him offered sweets, sworn at, asked for an opinion on an ingrowing claw, propositioned, cooed at, holosnapped...

: He snapped himself from his contented appraisal of the sights - and sounds - on offer. He had, after all, still to report to his CMO, and so headed away from the hubbub of civilization and uncivilization to the clinical, precise - quiet - Medical bays to find Dr. Bennett and get his reporting in done as quickly as possible so that he could get back to enjoying his new home.

Em was sitting in her office going over reports and looking at new staff coming aboard and making a list of those that still needed to grace their presence in Sickbay. She also needed to check on the XO's new organ. They were looking at the transplant happening next week. She was somewhat nervous but she knew that it would go well.
