He was looking for seismic activity or strange weather patterns, any soil and hydrological chemical analyses that were unusual, and any underground buildings or technology inconsistent with the pre-industrial culture known to exist there. He knew that the earlier mission would have had better equipment that the Ogawa, but maybe if he searched hard enough then he might just discover something their scientists had missed.

There were no buildings or structures underground or anywhere else except for the village structures, save for the duckblind compound itself which was built high among the massive trees of the rainforest just on the edge of the village.
