: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Bill went from feeling happy and content to having his brain go to red alert. 'All hands on deck!' The question was one of those traps that women tended to lay for men . In the same class as 'How does my new hairdo look?' And 'Does this outfit make my butt look big?'
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : He used his lightning fast thought processes and came up with a devious strategy . The same one most men use and get into trouble for. He'd tell the truth. Besides with his brain in a panic his thought process resembled a train wreck.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Swallowing hard he looked down , away , and back at her again before saying ,"Well I have to admit , when we were on Risa ....well.. you know..it was just simple availability. You were there , I was there , why not? " Pausing for only a moment before the expected explosion of female wrath could explode like a volcano and bury him he plowed on. "I mean I was always more than curious about you. You were the strong ,silent , tough , good looking chief of security. "
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Bill searched for words .. the average human male lacking the verbal skills of females it's something that they do frequently which leads females to often think that A. They're being very open with their emotions . Or B. They're looking for a good lie.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : He bit his lower lip as he stumbled on saying ,"You're mysterious , sultry,beautiful , and well after the first time that we.. and then.." he stumbled....words failing him .. "well dammit I just don't want to stay away from you ! You're always on my mind. I just want to know everything about you . I... " His voice trailed off. Out of words he just stood there and shrugged. Quite certain that he'd thoroughly bollixed that one.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : Lyria watched Bill stumble over himself. She was amazed how a man who commanded a starship with large crew could possibly stumble over words to one woman. When he looked pathetically helpless she stepped up to him and put a finger on his lips to silence him. "It's ok, really. There was no bad answer." She took her finger away and kissed him sweetly.

: : : : : : : : : : : : Bill inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. As he held Lyria in his arms he unknowingly probably gave her the best answer to any question she could ask ."Good replied because right here in your arms is the place I most want to be. "

He didn't want to think about the upcoming mission, but he knew that the woman he...l..l.. liked intensely . yes men can't admit it to themselves . would probably be in the thick of things and it concerned him. "That Captain hasn't been working you too hard has he?"

: : : : : : : : : : : Lyria laughed, "Oh no, he hardly speaks to me actually. I guess he has more important things to do than babysit his Chief of Security. Either that or he feels I can handle my own department well enough." She kissed his neck and looked back up at him, "You're tense, what's wrong?" she asked softly.

: : : : : : : : : : "Our new assignment. " Bill said. "It's may be.. well security intensive. Some prisoners along with outside help from someone have taken over a prison ship . We've been dispatched to find the whole lot of them whomever they may be. "
: : : : : : : : : : Sighing heavily he admitted .."So I've been worried about what might happen to you." He held her close and kissed the side of her neck saying in a whisper,"I think this mission could get hard for me."

: : : : : : : : : Lyria smiled as he kissed her neck but it quickly turned into a frown as it dawned on what he was saying, she drew back slowly. "Bill, tell me you don't doubt your faith in my abilities..." she said slowly in a measured tone. She had been trained for years for this kind of action, truly she looked forward to it, it broke up the hum-drum of the everyday duty shifts and got her adrenaline pumping. Bill had never seen what she looked like in combat or even the rush of it after the hard part was done. She wondered silently if he would ever understand it. She smoothed the side of his hair and looked him in the eye, "I will be fine, you have to trust me."

: : : : : : : : Bill smiled , a sad look in his eye as he said ,"I've seen your jacket Lyria . I trust your abilities. It's my own ability to send you into the path of danger that I question. I just ask that you be careful whatever might happen. "
: : : : : : : : Then taking her shoulders and pushing her to arm length he said with a grin, " But hey wait a minute, did you ever say why you came?"

: : : : : : : Lyria looked up into his eyes, "You know you can't prevent that, it's my job. I have to do it." She kissed him then, but it wasn't a hungry kiss, rather a tender one. She stepped back when he pushed her with a questionalbe look on her face. "I came because....I needed to see you," she answered simply. "You're quite addictive."

: : : : : : Atwood laughed, relief and a bit of relaxation finally coming to his eyes. "And I thought I was addictive." he said.
: : : : : : Then looking out the window he said ,"It seems some madman and his cohorts have taken over a prison ship. As if that weren't enough it would seem that they had help or were joined after the fact by someone else . All for unknown purposes. "
: : : : : : Atwood shrugged. The politically correct thing of course would be to return as many prisoners in one piece as we can. Which means of course eventually a boarding party , and a rather crowded group of cells in security."

: : : : : Lyria nodded and listened. "You know we will plan this carefully, we will all be ok." She kissed him again, and again, and again.

: : : : She of course had made Bills brain nearly shut down completely after only the third kiss. His body seemed to relax and he felt a feeling of comfort being there with her. That and another more , well shall we say basic emotion.
: : : : He lifted her up and carried her to his bed and saying her down gently said as he nearly tore off his tunic , "Aaaah views of stars and drinks are vastly over rated . "

: : : "Vastly." Lyria purred and posed provocatively. She took his bare chest in with her eyes and gave him a michievious smile. "I'll tell you what, what you can catch you can keep..." she leaned up pulled him down onto the bed and pinned him before he caught what she meant. "That was easy, you're going to have to do better than that."

Bill reached up undoing her tunic as he said ,"I'm learning about Zen . You know.. taking the path of least resistance."
