T'sal graduated from the Vulcan Medical Academy before joining Starfleet Medical. She is very meticulous and detailed oriented and able to work on multiple mental tasks at once. She commits to memory the medical files for each of the members of the crew. She specializes in exobiology and rare diseases. She requested an assignment that would allow her to study Ferengi and Deltan diseases. Prior to joining Star Fleet she had already done a limited study of Klingon diseases and a more extensive study on Betazoid diseases. Her parents discouraged her from joining Star Fleet insisting that she could have more control over her research opportunities through the Vulcan Science Academy. T'sal believed that the Vulcan Science Academy couldn't offer her the unique opportunities that Star Fleet Medical could. Her other option was to attain research funding. But she decided that the constant demand for results from her contributors and having no desire to see her research potentially used for weapon development that Star Fleet would be the most logical choice. Like most Vulcan's, T'sal has been betrothed to Saldin since they were both children. It was decided that T'sal would be able to continue her research until she and Saldin underwent the Pon Farr. At which time they would be joined together.
