"Take up any station you like Lieutenant," he gave her a bit of freedom right now as commanding the ship while under attack was his priority.

: : : : : : : : : The slipstream corridor opened near the Dresden, and the vessel emerged from slipstream. It was minimally shielded, but it was, as the phrase went, "loaded for bear". It came upon the Dresden and fired an opening salvo, but this time, the Dresden's shields were fully operational. The attack reduced the ship's forward shields to eighty percent of full capacity.

: : : : : : : : The ship shuddered. "Return fire! Aim to disable, not destroy. I want to know more about these people." said Michael to his younger sibling who was now at his tactical console. "Evasive maneuvers, helmsman!" he told the officer at the helm.

: : : : : : : Taneea quietly took up position at a spare console, attempting to find out everything that the sensors were picking up on that alien ship, committing it to memory. If they were here for her, she had to be prepared for the possibility that she would be taken and as such she needed to arm herself with every piece of knowledge she could gather. They would regret coming for her, she decided darkly as she worked, she would ensure it.

: : : : : : "Aye Sir!" Sam barked as her hands flew across her console. Within a moment, the full power of the Maverick Class ships 14 Type X Phasers came to bear on the alien ships engines. At the same time, Halloway readied a full volley of photon torpedos... if needed.

: : : : : The seven phaser arrays that could target the alien vessel fired with pinpoint accuracy, blasting the same point on the vessel at the same time. The shields almost immediately overloaded, and a deep gouge cut in to the ship's hull. Sensors would show that it was powering up a warp field immediately after sustaining damage. However, it fired a volley of twelve quantum torpedoes in a full spread, and all twelve of them slammed in to the Dresden. Although the shields mostly held for the full broadside, they did fail after the tenth impact. The final two quantum torpedoes blasted the entirety of decks 31 and 32 off of the Dresden.

: : : : : Before the Dresden would be able to return fire, the alien ship had found a vector. But instead of opening a slipstream channel, it had gone to warp 7.

: : : : There was reverberations throughout the deck as Michael suddenly was shaken about on the bridge. From standing up that was never good, but he managed to find the pilot's chair for a bit of support. "Report!" he ordered. He wanted to know what happened.

: : : : As he saw the ship vanish into what appeared to be warp, he then said to the helmsman, "Pursuit course."

: : : Taneea continued to observe, she was surprised actually to still be standing on the bridge, her naturally agility enabled her to merely move with the ship and she managed to avoid falling in an ungraceful heap at the blast.

: : Sam steadied herself and with highly-trained precesion, accessed incoming info on readiness and damage reports. "Sir, we almost overloaded their shields and our volley made a fairly deep gouge in their hull. Before they went to warp, they fired twelve quantum torpedoes and all twelve hit. Shields failed after the tenth. The last two hit decks 31 & 32, reports of heavy damage coming in. Recommend deploying DC Teams (OOC: Damage Control Teams) immediately."

: The ship shuddered a bit as it went to warp, since the computer had to recalibrate the warp field to account for the vessel only having 30 decks present in the structure instead of the usual thirty-two. However, the ship did manage to get up to warp 9.

: Similarly, the damage control teams would find nothing to fix if they were dispatched, since all the damage had resulted in the destruction of the decks in question, with little else.

Jack soon entered the bridge. He had just barely gotten the shuttle back into the bay when they went to warp, but at least he was back in the ship. He noted to meet the new CIO later as he headed over to the Captain and sat down in his seat, waiting to see what was to unfold.
