Kuurus is new to Oed V. He recently arrived with his family, and is opening a training school to teach bat'leth and Mok'bara to non-Klingons. He has heard of the current Klingon "fad" now popular with many Federation youths. He has come to Oed V hoping to establish a fortune on which to comfortably retire and provide for his daughters.

Kuurus is the younger brother of the House of Nanchar. His older brother, Magra, mismanaged the family's holdings while Kuurus fought in the Dominion War. He returned home to find his family in debt and his daughters about to be married off to gain political position for Magra. Kuurus and Magra fought, and Magra died. Although Kuurus felt he was defending the honor of his daughters and the House of Nanchar, Magra's wife accused him of dishonor and murder. Forced to flee Klingon jurisdiction, Kuurus and his daughters have travelled to the Federation to begin a new life.

Kuurus is 6'4" and 220 pounds. His hair is black,streaked with grey, and worn long and loose. Numerous scars are visible on his hands, arms and face. His left ear is missing the upper lobe, the result of a close encounter with a Jem'Hadar. Kuurus nose has been broken so many times, even he doesn't remember how it looked originally. He still owns his uniform from the Imperial Klingon Defense Force, but usually dresses in comfortable, loose clothing. A sleeveless shirt and simple black pants is the norm. The only ornamentation is a badge worn over the left breast, representing the House of Nanchar. Kuurus wears a sheathed dik'tagh and a holstered disruptor pistol on a weapons belt. Black combat boots complete the outfit.

Kuurus considers himself a ladies' man, and had four wives. All four wives died of Bonanza Syndrome after each gave him a daughter. He is a sucker for a pretty face or a get-rich-quick scheme.
