: : : : : : Goldman had relieved the Beta shift officer of her duty, not quite certain why he'd decided to have such an odd schedule. There was something interesting about taking the night shift on a medical ship. Even though he knew it wasn't the same thing as a night shift in a real hospital, there was always that anticipation. Most of the senior staff was off-duty - and if not for the fact that he had always hated Beta shift, he'd be off-duty, too - meaning that you were dealing with people who weren't used to authority, or making major decisions. They were used to asking others what to do, how to behave, or simply whether or not they should be doing something other than waiting. It was both calm, and tense. He was wide awake, having just finished a sleep cycle, but could see that, save for the officer he'd relieved, many of the Bridge crew had stayed on. He figured that he was one of the few that did Gamma through Alpha shifts.

: : : : : : It was set to be a slow night, indeed.

: : : : Zuvak as a Vulcan had little need for sleep and had only been up for 26 hours. Hence he was often given the late shift as bridge officer. On seeing the XO he vacated the chair and assumed his station. He reported "No incidents to report commander. It appears to - as you humans put it - to be going slow."

:
: "Good to know, Lieutenant," Goldman answered. "Slow is good, considering what we went through on Andrayus."
:
: : : : : Erica walked onto the bridge, possibly still feeling under the weather. She wasn't paying much attention anymore. She knew she couldn't sleep. Garr was still somehow invading her mind, even if he weren't really telepathic. "Burning the midnight oil, Commander?" She smiled softly, taking a seat next to Goldman. He was the only other person she really knew, considering he brought her on board.

: "This is actually my first shift, Doctor," Goldman replied. "I find it's better for me to already be on the Bridge when the Commanding Officer begins a shift, instead of starting at the same time. It means that one of us is always on the Bridge, if needed."
:
: : : The Ogawa was presently on a patrol route near the Klingon border and unexplored space.
: : :
: : : It was at this point while half the senior staff was coming onto the bridge at night that the NLt at ops spoke up as several beeps came on. "..Sir," he said to the XO, "..I am picking up a distress call from an unexplored system 4 light years distant. It seems to be coming from a Romulan ship, stating they have lost main and aux power, with life support failing, with full failure in 30 minutes. Registery ID from our database shows them to be a cruiser. the RSS-Liberty's Wings." the officer reported.
: : :
: : : The curious question of how such a ship got so far from explored romulan space was quite a mystery as well. Especially given the current chaos of the empire after the Hobius star went nova and destroyed their central areas of government.

: "Helm, set a course, maximum warp. That should get us there soon enough, if the message is legitimate, and if it isn't, we'll still have time to prepare ourselves."
:
: : "The Chief of Staff said, "Put that distress call on speakers and scan the area of space lets see whats out there before we rush into anything. Get all medical personal on alert and get all medical divisions ready for incoming."
: :
: : OOC: No one replied so i did hope u dont mind.

:
: "You read my mind, Mister Farnsworthy," Goldman said. "I was just making sure that we could respond in time."

Zuvak put the distress call on speakers and sent a message to sickbay "Sickbay reports ready sir."
