: : : : : I was wondering about if we had more than the one cargo ship class listed that i found. The reasoning is that we occasionally do these sims where our ships are escorting a half dozen or so cargo ships.
: : : : :
: : : : : I found one most excellent spec for a cargo ship, the Monolith.

: : : : :
: : : : : This seems to be a TNG era ship. I might reccommend out a few changes. Like, a 20 crew ship wouldn't need a ready room or observation lounge. This space could be the CO quarters right next to her bridge command. And i might put the sick bay on the same deck or just below the crew quarters. But The Monolith is a really good overall design for a cargo ship
: : : : :
: : : : : I was thinking of having specs for light, medium, and heavy cargo ships, perhaps adjustables for our base TNG era, the ToS movie era, the Archer Ent era, and the Abramsverse too.
: : : : :
: : : : : I lack the skills to actually design said ships myself or I would.
: : : : :
: : : : : Just an idea!

: : : : I think that is our ONLY spec for a cargo ship. More designs would be nice.

: : : I'm thinking that we take the awesome Monolith cargo ship. We can make that a light cargo class. Then we make the crew 40 for a medium cargo, and 60 people for a large cargo.
: : :
: : : Then we have 3 specific cargo ship templates. The notes under those can reflect our different eras of roleplay. This would be instead of coming up with a total of 12 different cargo ship templates to reflect the different eras.

: :
: : The 3 master cargo templates, of course, would be set to TNG, which is the majority of our roleplaying environments. And then GMs and COs alike can use those in their sims.

:
: Question. How often has anyone used even the Monolith? Are we actually lacking in freighter classes? Is it in any way hindering or harming missions to not have additional NPC freighter specs?
:
: Because if not, then I don't see why we should bother having more of them.

: Disclaimer: Yes, I was the primary designer for the Monolith. That's unrelated to this question. :-)
I've been in sims where we did an escort for a frieghter convoy! The most recent I can recall is on the Merrimack. I'm not sure how many time the need for a cargo ship has actually come up. I just think that it's neat that we have the Monolith spec. I don't really role play in any of the station RPG areas so it's hard for me to judge how often that it's used. But I think it'd be neat to have more as an option.
