As the transporter whisked the away team away back to the ship they soon arrived safe and sound with the information in hand for transfer to starfleet intel to see what it entailed and why though why the romulan ship was experimenting with making wormholes was a question that would have to be answered at a later point.

The romulans though antsy to get off the Federation ship and feeling like they were being held prisoner were eventually peacefully returned to a starbase near the former neutral zone there they were met by a transport ship which would take the romulans back into the remains of the empire.
