: : : : : : "Considering Relann, that you are a Security buff, chess might be your game." Shawn nodded in the Dy'allans direction. "And not just old 2D chess, you should look into 3D chess. I was never good at it myself." In fact, the only game he was good at was Blackjack. As a youth in the colony he grew up in, it was his hussle game.

: : : "Hmmm… I might have to try it," Fell replied, her violet eyes sparkling.

: : : : : "Card games are a whole other can of worms." He grinned. "I'm not too bad at poker. I use to play back in my college days, it's been a while. Anyway, I agree that you might like chess Relann. It takes a bit of learning but once you got it down, it can be very challenging and exciting. Do you have any games on the planet were you come from?" He asked, addressing the COS.

: : : : "I am interested as well.. what kind of games do you play?..." Pegasus smiled as he settled in with wanting to understand a little more about the COS.

: : : Relann actually flushed a little. How to explain? Would they understand? "Um, most games are played by children as fun ways to teach lessons. Mathematics are a popular subject. Games of agility not too different than what my adoptive mother told me was called skipping rope or balance are commonly played. You have to understand that much of our lives were devoted to matters of Faith and daily life. Stories, art and music were our pastimes. Myself, I uh… well, I never had time for the games that the other children played. I was always training," she said simply. There was sadness in her voice, but it would have been easy to mistake it for regret about not taking part when in fact it wasn't. For Relann, it was that there were few people she could ask and in her time on Satalla, it seemed that the childhood games were dying off, just like the remnants of her people.

: : Shawn gave Relann an encouraging smile. His people didn't suffer the same prosecution Relann's had, but he was an outsider now to them and he could never go back to the colony. "A lot of the board games are used as a way to secretly teach human children skills as well. Gorwing up in the Colony I told you about Relann, we weren't much for games that caused much excitement, children were to be seen, not heard. But it is time to break that cycle. So who suggests what game?"

The Dy'allan offered Shawn a smile of understanding.

: "Ill give someone a game of chess.. if you have a board to play with... " Pegasus said with a boyish smile "Its not my best game.. but its still something I can play.. or if anyone suggests anything else.. "

"Well, I'm happy to watch and learn. You can teach me as you play," Relann commented. She was much more keen to observe at the moment, not knowing the game at all.
