: : : : And Tohala didn't need much encouragement really. Her hormones were all over the place and it felt good to focus on these happier emotions for awhile. With quick, deft movements, she removed her uniform jacket and then reached for Nick's, her mouth doing it's best to never leave his. She needed it to be just them for a moment, with no one else weighing in.

: : : Nick eagerly returned the passion she was showing, removing his jacket as he kissed her more and more. He wanted more than anything to allow for the simplicity of intimacy envelop them both.

: : Her hands roamed his skin, pulling him closer, divesting him of the uniform undershirt. The familiar hunger and urgency fuelling her actions. She recalled the first they had been together. She had just chased him through the Outpost in a classic cat and mouse game, much to her delight. Three-quarters of a bottle of a confiscated Romulan Ale in his quarters and all had been revealed, all laid bare. Years of secretly pining had made her reserved about pursuing the idea when she saw him again. Even though they had known each other under different identities, he had seen her for who she was, recognizing the essence of the person he had secretly cared for. They had been far too young, far too devoted tot their duties to try and work around things. Hell, he had been married, and that was something Tohala wouldn't have messed with, even if she had been able to acknowledge that after that life shattering mission to Ricktor Prime, Tohala knew without a doubt that she was in love with Fisher. She wanted to believe that maybe it was because he loved her too that he had defied orders and snuck into that secret Cardassian base to rescue her mid-interrogation. At the time though, she could only assume it was a sense of honour and loyalty and she couldn't have known his true feelings.

: : And here they were, a couple for as long as it lasted; perhaps forever. And she was pregnant with his child. Under different circumstances she might have been overjoyed, but right now it made her terrified and sick to her stomach, and it wasn't because she was experiencing any nausea. No, the ill feelings came from the fact that she suspected that whatever happiness she had finally found would be ripped from her unceremoniously. But until that happened she wanted to savour this time with Nick so in the event that she had a hollow life to lead elsewhere, she would have these memories to cling to and remember when the nightmare she was living became too much to bear.

: : So she made love to Nick knowing that at any point it could be their last time together.

: As their bodies melded and the night dwindled down he began to feel at peace. Nothing changed, but just knowing he still had her love meant more as he began to let his mind drift, holding her closely in his arms. "I think we need more of this." he said softly.

"Agreed," she replied as she turned to face him. "Who knows when it could be the last time," Tohala added idly, vocalizing her earlier thought. It was a depressing one, but there in his arms, she felt safe enough to utter it.
