: : : : : : : : : : : The CMO motioned with a gentle, tired hand to one of the chairs in front of her, "Ellie...is...having a difficult time coping with what's happened and quite frankly, I'm not surprised. She has some brain and spinal damage that are making it difficult for her to communicate. Healing is going to take some time but at this point, her physical state is not what I am concerned about...."

: : : : : : : : : Ellie woke a while later and looked around, she was still disoriented but she had some feeling back in her legs and when she sat up there was only minimal pain. Sitting up, she slid off the bed and to her feet trying to stand. While still weak, she managed to keep upright.

: : : : : : : : IC: THe sensation soon passed and her body gave out again. Ellie fell to the floor of sickbay unable to get up. What she thought had been strength was not. It seemed to be a fleeting thing. One of the medics came over and gently set her back on the bed and walked over to Erin's office "Ma'am, Lt Bartram just fell. She stood for a few seconds and then just collapsed." He said and walked away.

: : : : : : : Erin sighed a heavy sigh, not out of frustration but exhaustion. It was one thing after the other for Ellie...

: : : : : : : Once at Ellie's bedside, the CMO took out her tricorder and began scanning, "This is the first time she's actually gotten off the biobed. The last few times she's only been able to sit up and we've encouraged her to lay back down. Until most of the swelling is gone, I can't admit her to physical therapy."

: : : : : : Brook nodded "Let me have a few minutes alone with her once you've finished your scans." Brook said with a warm smile.

: : : : Erin finished her scans and determined that she was stable enough for now. She backed up, allowing Brook to speak with Ellie.

: : : : : : With the scans finished Brook pulled up a chair next to Ellie's bed "Lt Bartram, I'm Counselor Satordi." She said as way of introduction "Do you know what happened and what your condition is?" She asked wanting to make sure that Ellie fully understood the medical ramifications of what was going on. Ellie's understanding of the situation, would determine the course of action that Brook took with the Engineer.

: : : : : Ellie looked between Erin and the Counselor "Hurrrt...explosion...." She said and looked at Brook "Pain, cannn't move......leegggs." She said "Havve....Work." She said trying to get up again and groaning in pain.

: : : : : Brook put a firm hand on Ellie's shoulder "You'll go back to work when the doctor says you can. For now, you need to rest. Let your body heal." Brook said firmly "No more trying to get up until you're cleared to." Brook left her hand on Ellie's shoulder "You need to know that it is possibly that your mobility will be limited for a while. You need to be patient. Okay. We'll do everything we can to help, but you need to let yourself heal."

: : : : : Ellie looked confused for a moment and then nodded in understanding "Hurrt...pain...meeeed..please." She stammered.

: : : : Dr. Ferguson took a hypospray and loaded it with 10cc's of terakine. She gently pressed it to Ellie's neck and then stepped back, wanting to observe the progression of Ellie's speach as she spoke with the CNS. The only way those centers of her brain were going to repair themselves were if she used them.

: : : Brook looked at Erin and smiled and turned her attention to Ellie "Ellie, tell me about your daughter." She said trying to get Ellie to talk and work on her speech. That seemed to be the most effected part of her brain. She was going to have to do some assessments of her own.

: : "Amy...heeer nammme is Ammy." Ellie said stammering over the words "Shhee's 1." Ellie looked at Brook and took a deep breath "Pauuul...is myy hussband.....my boooss." She looked at a spot on the wall "I...ammm tirrred." She said and closed her eyes and fell asleep.

: : Brook looked on as the woman fell asleep. She turned to Erin "Dr. Ferguson, I'd like to know what medical information you have on Mrs. Bartram, in particular her most recent brain scans. I know that she has had some mental health issues prior to this accident. Was she taking any medication to stabilize her moods and her anxiety?"

: The CMO motioned for the counselor to join her at a console, "These are the latest brain scans. There are still areas of sweeling in her speech and motor centers. Much of the swelling of her spinal column has gone down but her body is very weak. That's why she was able to get up but then collapsed."

: "As for the medication," Erin sighed, "she was taking some but she had stopped. And If I remember correctly, she was wanting to be able to take care of her daughter and didn't feel that she could while on the medication."

Brook sat down and looked at the information "Unfortunately at this point, I think she is going to have to go back on medication at least for the moment." She said "Do we have a hover chair. I would like for us to work together as a team to get her back. I will work with her on her speech and memory." She said "How much support do you think her husband will be in this process?" Brook asked looked at Erin "He is going to have to be a part of this as well."

She sighed "This is going to be a long process for her. I think we need to have her take off duty at least for the moment. At least until she is a bit more stable." Brook leaned against the console and looked at Erin "What are your thoughts?"
