: : : "It was something I learned at a very young age, I find it calming and centering. The fine details, the rigging on the ships requires a delicate touch."

: T'lan raised an eyebrow at the commander as she studied him after his question. "As it is right now Commander, Starfleet give me the optimal versatility in my chosen field for study. They give me the best opportunity to learn what I must to help all my people."

Chris chuckled when he saw the look she gave him. " Sorry, I know it was a very abrupt change in the conversation and I tend to be like that, but I do believe there is a rule book out there about questions an XO should ask to an incoming department head.

"Well then, I guess i would would consider that to be a good reason to join Starfleet'" he said, "I personally joined because of the idea of being on an adventure, meeting new species, and facing the unknown appealed to me." Chris paused for a memnt and looked at the vulcan before saying, "I dont remember if I asked you this or not, but did you want to join me for a drink?"
