"I'm Halai Cosgrove, chief of the sciences department, but then again, you already knew that," she commented with a smirk and slight sparkle to her duo-toned eyes. Her smirk was always slightly mischievous and coupled with her frequently cheeky remarks had often received raised eyebrows and glares from Mack in the past. It was a sign of her good-natured personality though.

: : Halai tilted her head a little. Something about him told her he wasn't fully Vulcan and even though his words had the usual polite straightforwardness about them, the request itself intrigued her. Truthfully, not many people ever dragged her out of her office for non department or senior staff related things. She smiled. "Actually it would be, I was just trying to sort out the mess on my desk, but I think I'm overdue for a break," she said as she gestured to the door and stepped around the desk. "Please, lead the way."

: "No, please." he said and motioned for her to go through the door first. "My mother has told me that she would disown me if I was ever unpolite to a lady and Vulcan's rarely joke." he said and it looked almost as if one corner of his mouth had shortly quirked upwards. But maybe it was a trick of light.

Halai smiled and chuckled, clearly amused as she stepped out into the corridor. "Courtesy and etiquette can vary so much between various cultures. What is chivalrous to one species could be downright offensive to another. I mean, how did you know if I would take that as a courtesy and not an insult?" the scientist asked intently, her gold and hazel eyes brimming with curiosity.

Cosgrove, CSO
