: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : IC: Ensign Eugene Donahue sat in the shuttle completely bored. He played around with an old fashioned swiss army knife that his friend had given him as a going away present. By far it was the best gift he had ever received. It had everything that you could imagine and although some of the stuff it had he wasn't sure what their use was, he still loved it. It was white, which his friend had informed him meant that it was manufactured in switzerland and sold only there, while the ones that were sold out of the country were red.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : It was his belief that every security officer should have a weapon of their choice with them. Most security officers he knew kept a favorite weapon with him and he felt it necessary to do the same. Eugene would have preferred to bring his whole collection of weapons, but knew that he had to choose one.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The ensign sat in the shuttle impatient wishing he could push the shuttle to its limits. Glaring out into space he looked for any sign of the ship and finally after what felt like days he saw one of the specks in the sky grow larger and larger and take the form of a ship. When he was close enough to the Genesis he hailed the ship, =/\= Ensign Donahue to the Genesis =/\= he said, waiting for a reply.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : =/\=Thank you commander =/\= he said as he gracefully maneuvered the shuttle until it was facing the shuttle bay head on. Then he carefully brought in the shuttle and landed. *Finally* he thought as he grabbed his things and headed out of the shuttle.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : Stepping out he looked around. Fresh from the academy this was his first official assignment and he was excited. Nodding to everyone he met, he made his way out of the shuttle bay and to his quarters to drop of his things.

: : : : : : : : : : : : When he rounded a corner of a corridor, shortly before reaching his quarters, a tiny woman in a civilian medical uniform ran into him. She looked up flustered and blushing.

: : : : : : : IC: Eugene watched her go before heading off to his room. He felt like he had already taken too long to report in so right after dropping off hs things he headed straight to the COS's office and pressed the chime, waiting for a response.

: : : : : : The security chief's office was right off the assembly room. There was an opaque window that likely was made of glass that could change in color and advisability as requested. The fairly angry sounding voice cracked from the other side. "Enter."

: : : : The security officer straightened himself out before walking in. Standing at attention, back straight and eyes forward, he firmly said, "Ensign Eugene Donahue reporting for duty, sir."

: : : Marius didn't look up for several moments. When he finally did he examined the ensign closely. "Mr. Donahue, how did you find yourself aboard the Genesis?" The unspoken question was how he found himself in his department.

: : "I chose to serve aboard the Genesis because I needed a ship to serve aboard and I heard that this was a great ship. As for why security, I come from a long line of military men and I'm continuing that tradition," he said.

: "Really," Marius almost looked interested. He twisted in his seat for a moment before propping up his legs. "Tell me about this long line of military men and your tradition." He did not make any gesture to the multiple available seats in his office.

"What would you like to know?" he asked, still standing. "The earliest record of my family is from the late 1700s where my ancestor served in the British navy. Through out the first and second world wars my ancestors were also part of the navy and so on and so forth. It has been expected of every son in the family to join the navy, but thanks to space exploration it has been expanded to include serving on starships as security."
