: : : : : : : : : : : Lt Zuvak had yet to meet the CO. he made his way to the Ready Room and pressed the chime.

: : : : : : : : : : ChGang sat in his Ready Room chair and was going over the crew roster. He was wanting to know what kind of people he was working with and what their past supervisor's had thought of their abilities. He didn't hear the chime at first from being so involved in the reports. When he did notice it ringing for him he thought, "Uh oh, how long has that been ringing?" He tapped his console and unlocked the door. "Come."

: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Zuvak entered and looked at the captain. He said "I'm Lt Zuvak the Chief Science Officer."

: : : : : : : : ChGang leane vack in his chair and waced to the one opposite his desk. "Have a seat Lt. It's a pleasure to meet my Chief Science Officer." He looked over the man and tried to size up his personality. "Is there anything I could help you with?"

: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : "No sir. I simply thought I should meet you before we get our orders." he said in the cold Vulcan way as he sat down.

: : : : :
: : : : : OOC: Sorry, during the grand re-opening of the store I work at things got a little crazy. I'm going to try and catch up on all my postings as fast as I can.
: : : : :
: : : : : IC: Ch'Gang leaned back in his chair. "Well, we have met." He grinned at the Vulcan man across from him. "I haven't gotten any orders yet for us. I'm catching up on reports before Star-Fleet contacts us." He picked up the padd with his Chief of Science's personnel profile in it. "So Mr. Zuvak, tell me your impressions on the Ogawa and her crew."

: : : :
: : : : "Efficient sir. Emotional though, like most species but I have come to the conclusion that in most it helps them sometimes but they are illogical and it is frustrating sometimes. I tend not to see them outside my shift as I prefer to meditate and read sir so I do not think I can say more than that." Zuvak reported.

: : : ChGang nodded, "Emotions help us understand who we are. You also have to realize that the mission isn't the only thing that's important if those you are trying to protect get injured or lost in the process. Logic cannot always dictate the solution to an outcome. Take for example, if a Borg ship were to be assimilating a world. You are captaining a starship on your way to rendezvous with other ships to fight a horde of borg. Do you just pass this one ship on by to meet with the fleet for a battle?" He knew he sounded like an old man trying to teach, but he was merely gauging what Zuvak would do under the circumstances. He liked to know what his men would do before they did them.

: :
: : "Hypothetical situations are illogical sir. Without knowing all the variables it is impossible to answer. For example, how desperate is the fleet, how close the Borg are. To quote ambassador Spock the needs of the many - the Federation - outweighs the news of the few - the planet. In battle, it is sometimes necessary to make a sacrifice to win the war. Your Earth history is full of examples of this." he responded. Zuvak understood what the CO was saying but he, like most Vukcans, believed that emotions distracted from the best, most logical, options.

:
: ChGang nodded. He expcted that type of answer. "You would also be leaving the Borg an uncontested foothold world closer to Federation space that would pump out more drones and ships. Unlike us, the Borg can work nearly 24/7." The Captain showed no emotion in his counter arguement, just logic.

"Captain individuality is something that needs to be perfected. Surak taught Vulcans the power to do this through logic. Individuality is the ultimate aim of infinite diversity in infinite combinations. Dont forget captain, that Vulcan emotions are far stronger than human ones when they are released." Zuvak informed the CO about Surak's teachings.
