: : : : : : : : : : : OOC: Krys, hi. :-). I'll leave it to you to put a time stamp on this in relation to your sim. Jules
: : : : : : : : : : OOC: We'll just say that your arrival, physical and psych exam all take place in a timeline before the sim. So you can still do all those threads as well as join in on the main sim thread:)

: : : : : : : : : : : Niniane exited the shuttle bay where she had just landed and stood in a wide corridor. She took a deep breath. New ship, new chances, she thought. An Ensign came closer, apperently security. He was rather tall.
: : : : : : : : : : : "Are you lost?" he asked with a smile. Immediately, before his eyes had found hers, she lokked down and said "Yes. I need to go to find the Chief Science Officer."
: : : : : : : : : : : "erm.." she heard him say "...Ensign Frost is probably in Main Sience. That's that way."
: : : : : : : : : : : She looked up in surprise... and to see where he was pointing. "Ensign Frost?" she repeated. That was news to her. She forgot not to meet his eyes, and when she did, his went wide in surprise.
: : : : : : : : : : : "Ok," she rushed to say. "... th.. thank you." and she hurried off. She had almost forgotten how awkward it was to meet people for the first time and see the surprise in their eyes when they spotted hers. When they spotted the typical freakishly blue Denobulan eyes in what seemed to be a normal Trill woman.
: : : : : : : : : : : Niniane sighed. She would have to go through that often in the next few weeks, but she had had to leave her old assignment. And what was this with Ensign Frost? She had learned another name as her new boss. But never mind, she thought as she made her way to Science. As long as he, or she, left her to do her independent research, she didn't care about rank.

: : : : : : : : : Frost went over in his head, seemingly for the thousandth time, every possible scenario the away team could encounter on the water planet. He was fairly sure everything was taken care of, given the time and space restrictions, but he had a nagging feeling there was something he forgot. As he sat and relaxed for a moment, the first time in days, it struck him that he was using the CSO's quarters as naturally as his own quarters. He reminded himself that there was a little 'a' in front of his title. He sat back, rubbed his temples and closed his eyes. His neck and shoulders hurt from the constant tension and lack of sleep these last few days.

: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : The chime to his office rang.

: : : : : : :
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : "We are always open, come on in." The engineering and science teams had been so busy, Frost had been resetting his office door to open for anyone the last few days. The formality of ringing the door chime kind of fell away. It wasn't usually done that way, but Sebastian felt the work getting done was more important. That, and he still wasn't 100% comfortable being in charge of the department as opposed to being 'one of the guys'.

: : : : : :
: : : : : : A Trill woman came in, looking at the floor until she stood, then she looked up and a pair of impossibly blue eyes hit him. Denobulan eyes. And it seemed as if she was shy about them.
: : : : : : "Lt. Jg. Niniane Fahr, reporting for duty Sir." she said in a strong voice and then looked down again.

: : : : :
: : : : : Frost seemed confused for a very brief second.
: : : : :
: : : : : "Oh, wow! I knew I was getting a new scientist but lost track of the day. It's been crazy with the away mission prep. I apologize, please, come in to my office and have a seat. Excuse the mess, it was pretty neat for my first few days."
: : : : :
: : : : : Frost had only received a brief note about lieutenant Fahr, not a complete curriculum vitae. As they sat across from each other, he did remember she was Denobulan/Trill. He remembered the expressive eyes from a childhood nanny. He immediately felt comfortable in her presence.
: : : : :
: : : : : "So, tell me a bit about yourself. I haven't received anything other than a few sentences about you. I guess not being an appointed CSO Starfleet didn't send anything to me. Truthfully, I don't believe you really get a sense of a person from such a description anyway."
: : : : :
: : : : : He hoped he wasn't talking too much. As long as he was acting CSO, he wanted to act confident in the position.

: : : : OOC: Kenneth, I love what you are doing with the aCSO position. You are creating a very believable character. Good Job!

: : Niniane smiled and nodded, not quite knowing where to start. She didn't really like to talk about herself. It was always the same questions, so she asked "Ah, yes. I was going to ask about that. What happened to the previous CSO who requested me?" she asked, because she was afraid that with him gone, the new CSO, apparently sitting infromt of her, wouldn't want her anymore.

:
: "I'm actually not sure. Personal business, Starfleet business... So I inherited the position. My specialty is stellar dynamics and I specialize, even though it's not officially a field of specialization, in radioplasma interaction. The effects of various plasmas and radiations interacting with each other. Um... truth is, I hate this type of question. If you have any questions for me, ask away. I'm grateful to have another scientist on board. The last one that joined is a Trill also. Though I don't mean to ask so bluntly, but your eyes... Denobulan?"
:
: Lieutenant Fahr seemed a bit shy, but most scientists weren't known for their interpersonal skills. He avoided mentioning that he was still officially an ensign. Being a lieutenant, j.g., he hoped she would not have a problem with him giving her orders.
:
: Frost, sciences

While she found the fact, that he also didn't espacially like to talk about himself, but rather talked about science, very charming, his second question brought her down again. But then it had to come sooner or later.
"Yeah, my mother is Denobulan, my father is a joined Trill. There is another Trill in the Science department? Is he or she joined?" Niniane asked, almost afraid of the answer.
