: : : : : <SNIP>
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : He had already met the Commander on the shuttle over, and nodded at him. The other man he didn't know, so Ed decided to introduce himself. "Hi. Ed Trollinger," he said. "I'm the new counselor."
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -- Ed Trollinger, CNS
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Cowboy offered him his hand and said "Kasey Cardino. Although everyone calls me Cowboy as its my callsign." said the man in a heavy Texan drawl. He continued. "And before you ask, yes it is because of the hat."
: : : : :
: : : : : "I see. A pleasure to meet you, Cowboy," the Counselor said, looking at the man's hat now that attention had been drawn to it. *He might be exactly what I'm looking for,* he thought.
: : :
: : : "You got any suggestions for the party?"
: : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : K'Mar waved at him. "Hello Mr Trollinger. Good to see you again. Now, what we are still missing here is a sort of podium for the awards and some ambient music."
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : - K'Mar
: : : : :
: : : : : "Oh, I don't know anything about music at all, so I'm no help in that department." In actuality, Ed wanted to see what choices they would make and why. Though it was also true he knew nothing about music these days.
: : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : Minutes later, Met'rel walked in, smiling from ear to ear. "Evening everyone. Looks like things are well in hand Commander?" remarked the XO, toward Lt Cmdr Alder. At 7' 9" he easily towered above everyone. This presented unique challenges to those of short stature and even ones of taller stature, as Met'rel was a mere three inches shy of 8 feet tall!
: : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt Cmdr Met'rel, aCO/XO
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : K'Mar nodded at Me'trel and smiled ever so slightly. "Indeed it seems that way. A little more lighting though..." he began to say, when...
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : OOC: Merging posts:
: : : : : : : : : : : : : Suddenly a spotlight speared the XO in it's brilliance and a dark haired engineer stepped from a wall panel. after dimming it a bit. " Sorry about that. But the lighting is set up now." he said as he stepped up to the new XO
: : : : : : : : : : : : : Hoyt (eng)
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : "No problem," said Met'rel, chuckling. Looks good to me. Anything I need to do, by the way?"
: : : : : : : : : : : Lt Cmdr Met'rel, aCO/XO
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : "Well done Ensign... Hoyt, correct? Seems you've read my thoughts. Now as I said... a podium and some music...." he left it hanging there to hear the idea's of the Ensigns first.
: : : : : : : : : : : : - K'Mar
: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : " Well Sir, A podium is easily replicated." the young engineer replied feeling more eyes than he liked and with more pips than he himself wore looking at him for an answer. " And as for music...." Corwain went on hoping he was doing a very good job of hiding his discomfort of being in he spotlight. " ...That can be pipped in from the ship's computer. I personally wouldn't want the academy graduation anthem however." he added.
: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : Ens. Hoyt (eng)
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : K'Mar actually let out a low and short chuckle, standing at odds with his pointed ears. He remembered the academy anthems well, and how his fellow Cadets had gone out of their way to spoil those big moments for him, the halfblooded weirdo. He shook his head at Hoyt.
: : : : : : : : : : "No, I can promise you that none of those will be played if I can help it." he looked at Me'trel with one of his slight smiles.
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : "Do you think you can ban Academy anthems for us?" he asked, hoping that Met'rel would not take it too seriously.
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : Then he looked at Hoyt again, thinking. "I've heard the Pilots are big in throwing parties. Maybe they can take care of the music." he mused.
: : : : : : : : : : - K'Mar
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Corwin brought his hand up to lightly scratch his cheek as he remembered the blaring music Lou had provided for their little cook out on the holodeck. One thing he could say about the CAG was that Brie was prompt in her rewards for a job well done....but still, that metal music was hardly useful for a formal gathering....
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : " I'm sure they could." the young engineer replied. " Perhaps I should get to work on the podium?" he added, hoping to slip out and away from the gaze of the higher ranking officer's.
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Ens Hoyt(eng)
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : "Yes, please do. And let me know if you need some help, I'll get you some. Thank you." K'Mar said, not wanting to make it an order since everybody was here voluntarily for the preparation anyways.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : =/\=Computer music.=/\= just then the unofficial anthem of all pilots ever, Ride of the Valkyries, started playing. Cowboy said "I'm sure I can find something. What sort of music do you want sir?"
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Cowboy
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : K'Mar kept a straight face and said "Hm, something easy that you can have in the background but also dance to it if you'd want to. I'm not so versed in terran music and Vulcan just won't do." he said.
: : : : : : : - K'Mar
: : :
: : : "How about some country music?" Cowboy suggested.
: : :
: : : =/\=Computer play country music, quietly and slow tempoed=/\=
: : : : : :
: : : : : : Met'rel simply nodded his approval, feeling a tidge like the proverbial fifth wheel. "I hope I'm not in the way, to be honest," he said softly, trying not to make anyone feel uncomfortable, at his presence.
: : : : : :
: : : : : : Lt Cmdr Met'rel, aCO/XO
: : :
: : : "Not at all sit. Afterall, this is your party!" Cowboy said to make the man feel more comfortable.
: : : : :
: : : : : Ed continued to stand around and remain mostly silent, observing everything. If Met'rel was a fifth wheel, he was an eighth, but he actually preferred it this way.
: : : : :
: : : : : -- Ed Trollinger, CNS
: : : :
: : : : K'Mar eyed the two men standing around while the Ensigns were busy doing all the work and Ensign Hoyt ercting the podium.
: : : : "Could you perhaps get us a speaker's desk for the awards and promotions?" he asked the two men.
: : : : - K'Mar
: : :
: : : Cowboy
: :
: : Bri walked in and looked around mostly to see what needed to still be done.
: :
: : CTO
:
: Narvak strolled into lounge. He disliked parties. He remembered past ship parties, when fights broke out into brawls, not that anyone would take him on being vulcan his strength over humans to protect him
:
: narvak

Met'rel stepped off toward the rear of the room, mostly to observe and learn the quirks of the crew. He sensed the Vulcan security offier's mood and cocked his head. Walking to him, Met'rel spoke. "Problem, Ensign?" he asked, simply.

Lt Cmdr Met'rel, aCO/XO
