Bridge on USS Olympic

: : : The first shuttle's information did make it up in an packet and a clearer picture could be seen of the different layers of the atmosphere of this planet. It was layered like a cake with heavy blanketing magnetic layer uppermost, this apparently was what kept the Genesis from being able to scan to the planet's surface. Beneath that layer was stormy below.

: : : Now that the shuttle was under it the scanners had no trouble scanning to the ocean levels unimpeded. Though only for a certain depth of the ocean before the interference started again. Was there two magnetic layers? One atmospheric and one oceanic? What kind of planet was this? Did this have anything to do with why the planet had become almost totally a water environment? Was it what caused the earthquakes and instability? Only continued research could tell.

: : Mona had remained on the bridge until shuttle 2 cleared the bay and was on its way to the planet below. She was just a bit wistful, wishing she could have gone down too, but she knew her place was here with the ship just as the XO ought to be with the crew. But knowing that these were their primary duty responsibilities didn't make it any less appealing or diminish her desire to go on these away missions...maybe the next one. She told herself. She followed the shuttle's progress closely as it made its way.

: Mona was able to follow the shuttle's progress until it entered the magnetic cloud. Once it was fully immersed she lost them on clearly on sensors. There were intermittent readings from the shielded probes they had sent down though.

Shuttle 2 began to slip from the sensors at the same distance from the ship. The magnetic cloud preventing proper communications. Mona waited, listening to the intermittent scan and voice reports. Those on the bridge were focused on their work and there was no extemporaneous conversation.
