: : : : : : : : : Looking around, Halai felt odd in her dress uniform. Had she known people that everyone was going casual dress, she would have worn more traditional garments from her homes. Oh well. Seeing K'Mar wave her over, Halai moved over with her usual grace. "Good evening, " she greeted with a smile. "I was going to ask how I could help, but I see you have things well in hand."

: : : : : : : : "Hello Halai." K'Mar said with one of his hinted smiles. "Well not really. There's one thing.." he stepped closer to her and lowered his voice. "T'Pel's not here. She's Vulcan, so chances are high she hates these kind of things. But I found out we'll get some high ranking visitors and it would be good if she could be here." he didn't say that he wanted her to be there for other reasons too.

: Cosgrove raised her eyebrows at K'Mar. Her first thought was that T'Pel didn't 'hate' these things. She probably has some very logical reason why it was unnecessary to attend. But she didn't point out the unlikely emotional response to him. "I seriously doubt my gender will be an influencing factor," she said pointedly. "However, we get along just fine, so I'll go see if I can drag her here."

: : : : : : Just then a stranger in a Security dress uniform came into the room. His deep blue eyes scanned the entire area from top to bottom as he moved about the room. His hair was light brown with grey beginning to form lightly around his temples. He had a pointed goatee and mustache and moved around the room swiftly as he checked over the perimeters and the occupants in the room. He spotted K'Mar amongst the crowd and did one more sweep over the room with his eyes.

: : : : : : Pretending to cough into his hands he whispered into a mic hidden in a cuff link on his uniform sleeve. "Perimeter Secure, target spotted." He moved towards K'mar quickly, almost like a panther moving in the shadows, inching his way through the crowds with ease. "Excuse me, Lieutenant Commander K'Mar, I need to have a private word with you."

: : After K'Mar and the strange Lieutenant had left the lounge for a short while, NE Ensign Smith came in and looked around if everything had been set up in time. There was music, some country music from Earth, check. Somebody had set up a Buffet with some lounge tabled lined up to the far wall, check. Ensign Hoyt had pulled out a podium of his sleeve in no time, check. The bar was very busy with extra bar stools, check. Ok, the lounge was ready for the party and he could bring the new crew members here right away. What a way to start an assignment, he thought with envy.
