: : : : Depends on which part you're talking about I suppose," she replied. "I love being in Dar, which is what the locals call Dar Es Salaam, but the rest of the trip will have lasting repercussions given the experiment we're going to try. Then there's my mother, whom I have to track down first and whom I have a good if complicated relationship with. We both love and can't stand each other," she said with a chuckle.

: : : "That sounds perfectly normal considering your upbringing and your tribe sweetie. We don't always do what our parents expect, I was supposed to marry Nearia Landal but I decided I didn't want to. I will be there, with you the entire time." he said, squeezing her hand some.

: : Ghubari smiled sincerely, squeezing his hand back. "I know, and I'm glad. Expect my mother to be less wary of you than the others once they realize you're telepathic. Obviously it's not an issue for her given that she fell for a Napean."
: :
: : "You were betrothed?" she asked curiously.

:
: "Yeah, for some Betazoid families they still try and give their children away. I was a last ditch effort since none of my sisters agreed to marry anyone. Unlike them for awhile I did consider it. I must admit it was more of my father's idea and want for us, he was betrothed to my mother and it worked out greatly, he always wanted that same happiness for us. We just... didn't want that though." he said.

"Fair enough," Ghubari replied. "I think most parents want happiness for their children, and if they are happy in their own marriage then it seems perfectly normal to want to pass that on. But betrothal is a complicated situation and takes real open trust with someone you may not know very well. It's not for everyone." Her own ideas on marriage were slightly skewed to, given both her tribe and her mother never marrying. Many in her tribe married young and so Ghubari was rather old to be still single, and Akeela's pregnancy later in her life with a man she never intended to marry shocked people. Especially given that he was an empath.
