: : : : : : : : : : : The area in question as the CAO would circle it around was twenty yards by twenty yards there were no walls as they were at the top of a large pyramid structure the closest thing for cover were four pillars that encompassed the energy field surrounding the altar area with the statue and dead priest.

: : : : : : : : : : Melissa paused and looked at the pillars before going back over to the Captain "Could the pillars hold a clue to the field that is surrounding the pyramid?" She asked as she looked around "Oh and the room is clear except for our dead friend."

: : : : : : : : : "In that case let's investigate the room. And at the moment, anything is possible Megan, scan the pillars and see of you can get any signs of power." he said as he moved forward into the room an d looked around...

: : : : : : : : Melissa walked around the edge of the pyramid looking for any chink in the shielding that they might use to their advantage. She turned her attention to the actual pyramid looking for carvings or writing that might give indication of how to shut down the power supply. Surely there had to be some sort of clue somewhere, they just had to find it.

: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : Scans of the corners showed that the energy field did not surround them nor did they radiate power, so there were gaps in the field, furthermore their was indeed mayan writing on each pillar which gave instructions on how to deactivate the field, it would seem simple enough once the UT translated essentially they would need to turn each pillar counter clockwise and push down.

: : : : : : : For the CO he had a wonderful view of the city about them including all the way to the shuttle pod.

: : : : : : IC: The CO took the site in. It certainly was impressive. It reminded him of the first time he flew into Cairo over the Pyramids. He turned around and headed towards the temple. He began looking around for caves and scanning. "Look for signs of water. The Mayans believed that the gods required human blood to provide water. During the drought the sacrifices increased dramatically?" he looked for a bit longer and asked "Have any of you heard of the Popol Vuh?"

: : : : : "No," Megan replied, "Tell me about it, it sound fascinating," but even as she talked only one eye was on the Captain and what he was watching, the other was on the surroundings, looking for any danger, or anything signficant."

: : : : Melissa looked at the others "Does anyone have the UT with them?" She asked as she looked at the pillars "I have the feeling that our answer is looking us in the face." She said and then looked at the Captain "I have heard of Popol Vuh." She said "But I never learned much about it." She said as she looked for her own UT so that she could translate the pillars.

: : : =/\=Pape to Bo nave true can you load a universal translator with the ancient Mayan language and have it beamed down immediately.=/\= he ordered. Turning to Melissa "Major, that should suffice. As for the Popol Vuh it was written by a Spanish missionary, Father Francis Ximenez, a Dominican priest who studied in the New World. He wrote the book, according to legend, from original manuscripts, translating the Mayan works into Spanish. It is a work of great importance as it is the only source, aside from ruins, of Mayan pre-colonial beliefs, although it. Is disputed as no trace of other surcease has been found.

: : Melissa nodded as she listened to him talk about Popol Vuh as she continued looking at the pillars watching the area around them to make sure that no one was coming up on them. "Do you think that the Popol Vuh could have something to do with this?" She asked looking over at the Captain.

: "Its not a book of secrets more a collection of myths. There might be something on it about aliens though. Maybe there gods were real, maybe they were aliens. Think about it, a people who don't know about any machinery -everything was done manually - suddenly see a people who have knowledge and powers that are unknown to them. They could be interpreted as gods, and they are worshipped as such by the people's descendents and the caves that lead to Xibalba, where there are roads, leads to a portal across the Galaxy. As the world is different from Earth it would seem scary to a people who know nothing about other planets, let alone inter-stellar travel could misinterpret where they are." he said.

Melissa watched as the UT arrived, surprised at the transporter actually working. Melissa picked it up and began running it over the pillars to figure out what they were saying and how to shut down the power supply. "Do you have a copy of the Popol Vuh?" She asked as she worked still keeping a wary eye. "I have the feeling that if we shut this down, we might get some friends here." She said
