: : : : : : Alexander nodded as the match had now actually been opened. "More to the point what I said was, that if you tell me know and I feel that I need to information anyway for whatever reason I deem, I will seek alternative methods to getting said information. If your reason is valid enough I will wait like anyone else. I take the integrity of your work as seriously as you do, but I take my own work just as serious. If I need to break the rules I would rather know why it might be a bad idea to do so. You do not have to like me, but we are stuck working together from time to time on this ship. The least we can try and make it is a friendly rivalry, if we are not to eventually become friends that will work well together." Alexander sipped his drink, and smiled. He had re-read all the information he could get his hands on about the CSO prior to her arrival, as well as brushed up on Zaladan protocols. That is why he kept the charm to a minimum, and was being more straight forward than normal, maybe he had treated them as Zaldans he would still be married to one of his five wives.

: : : : : Marina seemed to actually relax a tiny bit with the more open conversation. She hated the feeling that she was being 'sweet talked' and was glad he had dispensed with it. "Friendship requires trust Mr. Courvousier. I do not trust you yet and I cannot predict if I will or not. We shall see," she said simply, before sipping the drink.

: : : : : "Now, as a former Admiral, we come to part of my issue with how you have gone about things. Whether you are retired from Starfleet or not, you inevitable have contacts and resources I do not, and so can likely find information you shouldn't be privy to. I suppose I can't do anything about that, and at the end of the day, an Admiral trumps a Lieutenant. If you take the integrity of my work as seriously as you claim, you won't use that for your own means. But, in my experience, people serve their own needs, regardless of who they step on." Truly, she felt she had no hope of actually being taken seriously. Both her age and rank worked against her, and at the end of the day she supposed she was used to people disappointing her.

: : : : Alexander flashed a crooked grin, "Touche, and I admit, as a retired member of what was not so fondly reffered to by serving officers as the Palace gaurd, I am privy to quite a bit. I have an insaitable need to know things, even if I do not have need to know on the issue. Downside of a career in intelligence, I almost assume that I know better than others whether I should know things. I can not promise I will never go over your head, but I can promise I will always take into consideration what you have to say about why I do not need to know, fair enough?" He reclined on the couch, and looked her over. "I always try to pay attention to whom I step on, the fingers of the hand you step on today, is likely to be attached to a behind you have to kiss tomorrow." He could read the frustration on her face, he recalled being a young bright eyed officer that often was shoved aside by other officers that knew better. "I can also offer the reverse of my skills, if you need to know something that is not with in your grasp, I can try to get it for you. Gifts of being an admiral, not matter how retired we might actually be."

: : : "An offer I politely decline, as to do so might mean doing to others what I would not wish for myself." A basic rule about being Zaldan really. "Besides, the things I am trying to find out, you cannot help me with," Marina explained. Unless he had intimate ties with previous generations of Zaldan high society, it was unlikely.

: : Alexander nodded, "i honestly expected no other anwser from you. " He regarded her for a moment, "Shall we eat?", he motioned towards the table as he rose from the couch. He moved towards the table and looked back over his shoulder at her, "Any progress on your mother's case? I have not read all the paticulars yet, but would sincerely offer any assistance to help you solve that one, I know it must weigh on you not knowing." He mentioned to try and shift the gears of the conversation a bit, and show her that his nose did not always go places that were bad, even if it was often unwelcome, unwanted, and resented once he had his nose under the tent flaps. She would not be the first displeased officer at his innate curosity, nor would she be the last, he figured the last would be the one that killed him over it.

: Marian stiffened as she stood up. Her mother's case wasn't hard to find out. Once you knew she was deceased and looked up her name, it was all there. She moved over to the table carrying her drink in one webbed hand. "Yes, I have found more information. Unfortunately there is no direct evidence, so it will never go to trial. I'm still missing pieces of it, but I have decided to let it be. I know enough now, and that is all I can hope for," she said quietly, her mood having shifted. That weight that she carried, that was borne of invoking power she never wanted to have sat there. She invoked the Rite and although it had accomplished things and brought out some of the truth, she lost her chance to have true justice for her mother. A hard price but one that in the end she had been willing to pay. Marina sat down at the table and sipped the drink before setting it down.

Alexander raised an eyebrow, then visibly discarded his next statement. "Very well, what if we took it a different direction, since we can not prove the guilty murdered your mother, what if we set about to find and prove they did something else, it is not direct justice for your mother, but likely something we can accomplish with enough persistence. You would be surpised how inventive, a lowly El Tee can be with the right backing. I feel it is something that needs to be done, I dislike when people get away with things they should have been sent away for, I am retired now, and no longer have to eat the for the good of the Federation flavoring put on most of the bull cockey I had eat in the service. And since I am old, I am allowed to be odd and eccentric now..." He flashed her a smile once again. He could be pleasant company at times.
