: : :
: : : Hi everybody,
: : :
: : : so, Kendra asked me to write the reminders, which I'll gladly do. I was trying to think of a way to make the monthly reminders to file reports worth reading, and even fun to read.
: : : And I came up with writing a little Fleet 6 Newsletter. Because I don't need to tell you on a monthly basis that the deadline is the 10th of each month, since Kendra posts the report on the 11th. You know that anyways.
: : :
: : : So what's new?
: : : ~ Elizabeth Rahuba is the new XO on the Van - congrats! The sim is about to end.
: : : ~ The Merri has finally found a new CE in a very interesting sim where they are 300 years in the past.
: : : ~ And sad news: Russ has left STF. That leaves Oed V without a Govenor, but I think a good solution is not too far away :-)
: : :
: : : Vacancies:
: : : (aside from all of us needing JOs)
: : : ~ I think the Genny needs a CSO and that should be all, right?
: : : If we share that info about command and GM postions, we can help each other. The more that are on the look-out the better. :-)
: : :
: : : Important STF stuff:
: : : ~ Remember the Emma Awards. The chance to nominate somebody won't be there much longer. Have you alrady nominated Fleet 6 for the best fleet???
: : :
: : : Obviously I don't know as much about the Oly and the Europa, but a encourage you to share that info, making our Fleet the best Fleet in STF!
: : :
: : : And a suggestion from my side for you all: How about I post these monthly news on our Starbase after I mail them to you?
: : : Then you can decide whether to respond via mail if you have something to add, or to respond to the post. Or we settle on one of these two options.
: : : Up to you.
: : : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
: : :
: : : Amendment:
: : :
: : : Ok, I understood it now. The Genny doesn't need a CSO after all :-)))
: : :
: : : Since I got no feedback on my last point, I'll just do it - as you can see. I will also post the final Fleet report here, that way you can read it without going into command (which some people try not to ;-) and without searching for ages.
: : :
: : : Hugs
: : : your aFCOM Julia

: : ..............................Fleet 6 News of May...........................................
: :
: : Hi dear Fleet 6 VIPs :-)
: :
: : this is your monthly reminder for Fleet reports and the Fleet 6 News of May - the month where everything blossoms (at least on my half of the planet ;-)
: :
: : So first of all, please remember your report, especially the ones who didn't last time, where there was not one ship where all three suspects wrote a report.
: : (There you go, from VIP to suspect in 2 sentences. That's how quick it can go! ;-)))
: :
: :
: : And here's the News:
: :
: : EMMA Awards: They might already be THIS Saturday. Voting ends today! Have you already reminded your crew to go voting? I know one CO in the fleet who did. (Yet, amazingly, and against popular belief, I'm not all-knowing!)
: :
: : Short Story Competition: Submission Period is now closed. We'll see the 5 shortlisted ones on June the 15th
: :
: : The Black Fleet's new MOTD: Have you seen it yet? I think it looks like an EMMA Award winner MOTD! If enough people vote ;-)
: :
: : Our Starbase 277: Again this news flash and the report will be posted there, so if your crew would like to have a look at what's going on beyond the ship, you can, if you want to, point them there to have a read.
: : I think it's a nice way to get new members involved in the Club. We need fresh meat! :-)
: :
: : That was it, all the way from Germany,
: :
: : I'd say I'm looking forward to your feedback, but that didn't have much success last time. But nae worries, I'm German, I'll just keep bugging and trying to be annoyingly efficient ;-) And if I made you smile just once - well, mission accomplished (my own personal one).

: ....................................Fleet 6 News of June...........................................................
:
: Dear backbone people of the best Fleet in STF,
:
: You heard the latest news? Kendra has resigned as FComm. She said it has nothing to do with STF and she keeps all her characters and Oed. Thank god! :-) Another Oed desaster would have been... desasterous.
: Thank you Kendra for everything Kendra. /me hugs
:
: Then yesterday Linds asked me, and I agreed. I did want to become FCom at one point, only I thought it was in the far future. So now I'm looking for an aFCom. Any suggestions? Anybody? (The official post for command is below in attachment)
:
: Oh, and could you please write your report until latest next friday, if possible? I'll be in th UK next weekend on a funeral of a British friend.
: And very well done last month. Everybody wrote a report! Another way we've been better than all the others! That Emma Award was well deserved. Thank you.
:
: On to other news of June:
:
: - Fleet 6 won the EMMA for best Fleet and best Fleet MOTD.
: Thank all of you for this, for being the Fleet with the least AWOLs, consistently!
:
: - That being said, there were a few more of those in June. But there was a lot of things going on in June too. Fleets 1 and 4 are catching up, but they won't overtake us.
:
: - There was a poll for the X-Fleet proposal and the Short story competition is finished, today we should know the winning story.
:
: - Robert Archer has taken a LOA until "next Sunday", and I persume it's not tomorrow, but the one in one week :-) Rob, enjoy whatever it is you're doing!
:
: All yours
: Julia

...........................Fleet 6 News of July............................................................
Hello everybody,
one month gone again, but where did it go. Yet, again, quite a few things happened in our Fleet.
Fleet Awards:
The Pom-Pom Award goes to Luke Hung.
For doing a great job on all his ships in Fleet 6 and for mini-GMming a masterful side-sim, related to the main sim on the Genny, that helped keeping players busy.
The golden Carrot goes to Terry Calvin,
for seamlessly rolling into Fleet Command again as if no time had passed and being the perfect aFCOM from the first second
which, of course, brings uns to the...
Fleet 6 News of July:
1. Terry Calvin was appointed aFCOM :-) Below you will find a short introduction to Terry and her STF history.
2. Starbase 277
You all have received my mail about using our Starbase for an IC appointment party for Terry. Most of you have meanwhile joined the festivities, as have President Bayes and Vice President Joe Pokerface, playing themselves IC.
The only ones who have not joined yet is the Oed and the Merry command and the GMs. As I said, this is all voluntary fun, but I don`t want you to stay back because of a misunderstanding.
You can all join with your club rank and your real names. You are part of Fleet 6, whether you have an IC character in the present time or not! :-) If you feel uncomfortable with using your real name, you can make up a character with your club rank, just for the temporary interaction on the Starbase.
I wouldn`t miss out on this opportunity to get to know the others IC, all excellent experienced players, who don`t need a GM or a LOA limit in order to do great writing.
3. The future of Starbase 277
Terry and me, we are working at a few ideas and we are backed up by former Fleet 6 FCOMs and their experience.
Our goal is to build a Fleet culture of productive exchange and helping each other and being rewarded for it.
I was told, for example, that the Starbase has never been defined as in how it looks. So we are currently giving the Starbase a face. This will change nothing of its OOC ship character, but it will make short IC stints like the current one more enjoyable. All of course in adherence to STF regulations. Stay tuned for more on this front. :-)
4. Posting limits
A big thank you. Especially to Joe who is very busy. Still, Fleet 6 again claims first place in July in adherence to posting limits. We were shortly overtaken by Fleet 2, but only for a few days. Right now we are at 94% green! Again, thanks to all COs and XOs. We rock! And although it`s nice and warm outside and we have a few LOAs, posting rates have been very high, proving the point, that summer does not equal low posting morale. On the Vanguard, for example there were 474 posts only in July 'till today and no red at all!
5. Rewarding good players
As you know, the monthly news and the Fleet Report is posted on Starbase 277 for you to link to if you want.
If you mention one of your players positively in your report, do you tell them?
Many COs forget that. And that`s sad, players should know that they have been mentioned, it strengthenes their bond to the ship, the fleet and to STF!
So why not write an OOC note, once the Fleet report is posted, pointing that crewmember to the Fleet report and saying: Here, everybody in STF command could read about you in the Fleet Report.
Rewarding good players is very important. I`m using the Award system of the USS Genesis, it`s linked on the Vanguard`s MOTD. Jen allowed its use for every CO who asks. I think it is great: http://www.star-fleet.com/webb/node/480482
and so does my crew, specifically those who newly joined STF!
6. Elections
Voting closes coming thursday. I would suggest that you could inform your crew about it, because there are still those players who have the notes of their ship bookmarked and read nothing else. Up to you of course.
Ok, that`s it for now. Keep up the great work and please, do let us know your feedback about what I and now Terry are doing here. Don`t just mumble into your beard if you have a critique, tell us. We can both take it! Constructive feedback is a gift and it helps us very much to improve. Fleet 6 is the strongest in the club currently and that's because of you!
All yours
Terry & Julia
Introduction of Terry Calvin:
Terry will celebrate having been a member for four years in October. She started out on the Europa with a civilian character named, Nirra (her IRC Nickname) then moved into the science department with a character named, Arba Shusho. After, Shusho was promoted to the CSO, Terry took the GM exam (the old one) and began her GMing career there on the Europa with a SIM built around, Shuso’s home world. She has been warping minds and pulling stunts with her SIMS ever since and currently is GM on the Ollinski and the Crusader both in Fleet 5.
After just a few months in the club, Terry realized she had missed out on the Academy so she spent the next two years serving there as CNS, XO and aCO on the then Apollo. She has played in all fleets and all departments. Two years ago she was dubbed “Elephant” and became Captain of the Olympic here in Fleet 6 which she said felt like coming home. Three terms ago she was the Assistant Fleet 6 Commander under Emily Hughes for three months then when Emily stepped down, Terry finished out the term as Fleet Commander.
