: : : : As the minutes passed and the array became larger on the main screen the problem became evident. The Alexandria had run into the array and was effectively tangled in cabling deep in the array. A glowing flare from the old ore carrier denoted a hull breach and plasma flaring from the breach. Sensors would show their hull integrity at 12%.

: Vinny chuckled to himself at the commanders 'joke', if you could call it that. Vinny initiated another scan. He wanted to know the rate at which the hull integrity was dropping, if it was at all.

Hull integrity at this time was not changing appreciatively. While it was decreasing - slowly - the greater danger was the fire on board and the risk of the ship succumbing to the fire or blowing up entirely.

Scanners would show distinct heat signatures defining the area of the fire, and in the more forward area of the ship there were life forms noted. Progressively, however, the scanners were 'fuzzy' in the regions around where the fire was noted, and in a zone just outside of that. The computer suggested, helpful that it was, that it was possible interference from a chemical mix caused by the fire igniting materials.

There were 36 life forms showing on the scanners.
On this mostly automated ore freighter the crew complement was displayed as 55 in the records.
