: : : : : : : : The winds hurled sand this way and that as the rocky areas made the wind direction chaotic. Lightning crackled in the sky. Whether it reached the ground was anyone's guess, their flashes making macabre shadows out of the rock formations about the away team. The path was not an easy one. It did zig and it did zag. A hundred meters beyond the landing point it crossed a narrow bridge over a crevasse. The path after followed the crevasse. Here the wind whipped against the party like they were going through a wind tunnel. Part way along this, suddenly NE Koats screamed as he tumbled over the edge and into the crevasse.

: : : : : : : James dropped to the floor and reached down to catch Koats' hand, just catching it in time. "Oh no you don't!" He yelled through the howl of the wind, as he heaved the ensign back up. He patted him on the back as he caught his breath. "Happens to me all the time." James said reassuringly. "Okay everyone, important safety tip, don't walk into any big holes in the ground."

: : : : : : Jane paused at the head of the column of people and looked back to see the COS catch the NE. She proceeded slowly around the rocks. As she skirted an outcropping she looked down and saw the camp just barely through the sand whipping in the wind.

: : : : : Jaya quicky grabbed hold of James to make sure both of them did not tumble over. Jaya then pulled out her tricoder and quickly scanned the surface for any other areas that might give way. Once she completed the scan she said "Looks pretty secure if you go straight towards the captain, Captain as you move forward make sure to stay at least a meter in from the edge at all times."

: : : : Kasumi saw Koates tumble and the save by the COS, marveling at his quick reflexes. "Good save, Sir." She said above the wind, and then put her face back down to follow the rest of the group into camp. She was looking forward to dismantling equipment in this weather even less now.

: : : As the path widened with the rocky ridge receding away from the crevasse there were a series of lights lining a wall perhaps 100m ahead. With the wind whipping at their clothing and hair they make it about half that distance. There a figure met them. He was cloaked in a dark robe that covered his body well from the storm. Goggles were evident as well as a dark filtered mask.

: : : A voice shouted through the mask. "Malory? Starfleet?" the male voice inquired. "I'm Jared Goldman, Geologist! Come this way, the camp is just over here!"

: : : With that he would lead the away team the remaining meters to the encampment. This consisted of two outbuildings. One had a dish that may have been a communications shack. The main building was dome-like and up against a tall outcropping. Of typical steelcrete construction it was sandblasted and pitted. When the away team entered they would find the 'circle' halved. The left half was a kind of storage area for equipment. The right half was a laboratory area with consoles and portable computer equipment. The far end was the outcropping. A cavern yawned open there descending into the earth.

: : : The figure shrugged off the hood and wiped away stray sand. "I'd hoped for a more pleasant descent for you. I trust it was not too taxing," Jared said.

: : Lt Rosson walked in, he had been walking at the rear of the party and looked around; "with weather like that, its no wonder you hang out underground."

: James pulled off his goggles and mask. "There was a part where a good friend of mine nearly fell to his death but thats pretty much par for the course with us." He said. "We've landed in worse, trust me." he added, looking around the cave.

Jaya took off her mask and said "As Lt. Eagle said we have been in worse. I'm Lt. Seth, CSO and this is Lt. Kasumi from my department." Jaya said pointing the Kasumi. "Before the storm gets any worse where can we help with your equipment, experimnents and research."
