Simon was once described as bread for the military. His family for as far as could be traced had served in the military in one capacity or another. Simon too was in line for this career and so opted to join the marines. His father, whom became a flag officer in Star Fleet shortly before Simon was born, felt he would struggle to cope. After some persuasion he was finally convinced to take the officers exam and attempt to get a commission however the Corp felt that he wasn't officer material and instead found his skills better put to use as a Marine Disip Sergeant. He took to his new position like a duck to water and was responsible for training a number of new marine recruits at the academy. Once his term was finished he reapplied but instead of renewing his position as a Disip Sergeant he was instead posted to the USS Samurai where he now currently resides.
