Eric Stratto, or 'Sapper' as he likes to be called, has been the captain aboard the Odin since her launch, and captain for a few years aboard the Merlin before her, where he also served as the XO since her launch. He is married to Jen Moran-Stratto, and has one child, Thomas Eugene Stratto. In his career, he has travelled to the Mirror Universe, fought off the Jem'Hadar, toasted with Klingons, and negotiated peace between warring factions. A typical Starfleet Captain's career.

He was trained as an Engineer at the Academy, and excelled. His specialty is theoretical engineering and construction, but he is capable with all disciplines of engineering. As a captain, he is well versed in all other roles of the ship, but he isn't afraid to ask for help from a department when he needs it.

His friends for years have been Captain Kenson Koh (currently on his own ship), and Lieutenant Domingo Chavez (currently on special assignment for Starfleet). The three of them have been aboard the Merlin when it was newly formed, and quickly became close friends.

For those wondering, he picked up his nickname while at the Academy, by a British Cadet. 'Sappers' were an elite branch of combat engineers. The name just grew on him, and he now uses it constantly.
