Aida Basimah Stryker was born to Biologist Jorgen Christer Stryker and tactical officer Lieutenant Commander Amani Zaida Hamri-Stryker aboard the USS Fairbanks. She joined her brother, Mathias Jorgen Styker, two years her elder. Jorgen and Amani later separated when Aida was three and Mathias was five. Aida and Mathias then went to live with their father at New Providence on Jouret IV, receiving intermittent visits from their mother, who was now XO of the USS Fairbanks.

For her 15th birthday, Aida’s mother took her and her brother on a rare vacation to visit the Hamri family on earth. On the morning of her birthday, the family learned that New Providence had been completely destroyed, presumably by the Borg. Aida never heard from her father again.

Commander Stryker then left her children on earth to be cared for by their Moroccan Grandmother, Basimah Meryem Hamri and Danish Grandfather, Christer Mogens Stryker. Shortly after moving to earth, Mathias gained entrance into star-fleet academy, with an interest in weaponry and military tactics.

While her brother was away at the academy, Aida threw herself into her studies, excelling at biology and anatomy. A few years later, at the insistence of her Mother and with the support of her brother, Aida joined Starfleet’s nursing program. After graduating at the age of 19, Aida was then assigned to a geological research station adjacent to the farming colony on Callay IV.

Aida spent the next decade on Callay IV, where she established a reputation as a skilled Nurse, in spite of the humble conditions of the facility. She easily made friends with many of the colonists and research personnel, and in particular, a winemaker by the name of Greyson Gable.

Greyson and Aida soon developed a romantic relationship, and were beginning to discuss marriage. It was then that tragedy struck. During the Dominion War, Aida received word that her Brother was listed as MIA after the Battle of Tyra.

Aida then became distant with Greyson and while they maintained a relationship, their marriage plans were on hold. Aida threw herself into her work, working long hours, extra shifts and assisting the researchers (whether they wanted it or not). While this did earn her a promotion, it added even more strain to her relationship with Greyson. It was then that Greyson issued an ultimatum. Spend less time working or take a break from him.

Aida choose Greyson.

Regrettably, just as the two were beginning to discuss marriage (again), tragedy struck again. An outbreak of Rougephalitis (a rare virus that attacks the respiratory system) hit the colony, killing several colonists and research personnel and leaving many more with weakened respiratory systems. When the outbreak cleared, Greyson was among the dead, Aida among the weakened.

Due Callay IV’s rare atmosphere which contains unusually large amounts of nitrogen and xenon, the colonists and research personnel (including Aida) who were left with weakened respiratory system were sent to earth to recover.

After several months of recovery, Aida’s mother, Captain Stryker, convinced her daughter to accept an assignment aboard the USS Odin where she currently serves.
