Samuran was six feet tall and weighed 185 pounds. His hair and eyes were dark. His skin was fair, with the typical greenish tint of Vulcans. He was 27 years of age, older than most of his Academy classmates, but still considered young by Vulcan standards. He was married, and has one child, aged six. Samuran was planning an extended leave to coincide with his next pon far.

Samuran had limited exposure to non-Vulcans prior to attending Star Fleet Academy. He was often confused, amused and frustrated by his crewmates' demonstrations of their lack of emotional self-control. Although experiencing his own emotional lapses, Samuran had tried to bahave as Vulcans were expected. Only recently a part of the Atlantis' crew, Samuran had yet to interact with his crewmates in any significant way.

Samuran's scientific interests were in astrophysics and astrometrics. He joined Star Fleet for the opportunity to study space phenomena "in the field", rather than reading of someone else's discoveries.

His telepathic abilities were average for a Vulcan. Samuran had recieved the appropriate training to perform the more well known of Vulcan mental "tricks". He had yet to attempt a mind-meld with a non-Vulcan. Fortunately, he had also never been forced to enter a Vulcan healing trance.
