: : : : <snip>
: : : : : : : : : : : : Kasumi fired her questions as she gathered the specimen and brought it back to where she was working.
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : "Computer, please run a detailed medical scan on this specimen, note any similarities in DNA and blood work between the specimen and Ensign Koats. Then run a cross check against a known sample of Lt Kasumi's DNA and blood work and note the differences between the specimen, Ensign Koats and Lt Kasumi. Confine all results to relevant incidents that involve the unknown parasite infecting Ensign Koats."

: : : : : : : : : : : : OOC: There ya go Gene... LOL Never trust a scientist.
: : : : : : : : : : : OOC: Technobabble .. good thing I'm kind of awake <G>
: : : : : : : : : : : IC:
: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : ! Specimen show distinctly human DNA to a 99.58% match
: : : : : : : : : : : ! Blood types divergent - Koats specimen type A, Grant speciment type O negative
: : : : : : : : : : : ! Specimen similarities to specimen Kasumi in DNA near match as other samples
: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : ! Relevancies are that any parasite intervention shows 'alive' in specimen Koats. All other specimens either negative or parasites in a dormant state. Koats displays active intervention in his specimen.

: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : "Computer, what are the similarities between a known pre-infection sample of Ensign Koats DNA and blood and a known pre-infection sample of Ensign Tons DNA and blood?"
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : -Lt (jg) Kasumi, sci
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : OOC: What, I don't get to know what blood type I am? LOL
: : : : : : : : : OOC: Didn't want to be too presumptuous there :D Oh, and apologies on the next post - my medical knowledge is pretty limited.
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : ! The computer listed a large amount of data of the similarities which, ultimately, did not really say much.
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : However, there did show up something that did catch Kasumi's eyes - and that was that the samples of the alien infection per se were different. What the difference was was the 'maturation' of the cells. In Koats' the maturation of the cells were much more advanced.
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : SJ-GM
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Kasumi sighed in exasperation. "Stupid computer" she mumbled beneath her breath. "Ok, so the cells are maturing faster in Koats... Computer, extrapolate the rate of growth of in Koats as compared to Ensign Tons, and display the results if Ensign Tons infection had continued."
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : -Lt (jg) Kasumi, sci
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : Sorry .. bad GM posting when he was tired. Not quite what I meant to say, not to mention my never having had any biology course in my life. The cells in Koats' were more advanced, as in before they ever touched anyone. As in perhaps they were 'ready' to do whatever they were doing to Koats, though whether by a younger or older sample, or just not the right time, the other was not.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : The computer showed the extrapolation in Koats as somewhere between a linear growth and exponential. Very rapid growth and mutation.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : In Tons they showed no growth at all.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : SJ-GM
: : : : : :
: : : : : : OOC: Wow, I missed the obvious question... LOL And no worries, cause I'm fighting off a head cold that's moving into my chest. YAY!
: : : : : :
: : : : : : IC: "Computer, are the cells found on Tons active?"
: : : : : :
: : : : : : -Lt (jg) Kasumi, sci
: : : : :
: : : : : ! Negative. The cells are inactive at this time.
: : : : :
: : : : : They had, it seemed, been active enough only to burrow some down into a layer of skin and settle there. Aside from that they were not showing any active readings. They had 'latched' onto him prior to their removal, and was feeding off Tons, perhaps until a later time of development.

: : : :
: : : : "Computer, is the infection in the Captain and the infection in Koats from the same source? If so, are the parasites in Koats growing faster or slower than the parasites in the Captain? If not, what is the difference?"
: : : :
: : : : Kasumi slid onto a different track for a few minutes to try to clear her brain and make this make sense.
: : : :
: : : : OOC: my medical knowledge is about tapped... Essentially these things are like a virus though, you catch it but in some it remains inactive, in others it doesn't?
: : : :
: : : : -Lt (jg) Kasumi, sci
: : :
: : : OOC: The captain wasn't infected, she is suffering from some sort of electromagnetic imbalance some how cause by the storm.
: : :
: : : Robin
: :
: : OOC: That can't be... the captain was brought back on the first shuttle with Eagle cause she was down with the lead scientist dude exploring and got bit by some creatures. That's why she was brought back first... she went into failure, and then we dropped the thread pretty much... the storm hit *after* the captain was on board and in sickbay.... at least... that's how I remember it. Did I miss a post or just completely lose track of what was going on?

:
: OOC: That was the diagnosis for the captain that Gene gave me when Salat scanned her. I think the story had to change midstream due to the captain's unexpected departure mid sim. It was over 7 weeks ago, so I can see how that would add to the confusion. I do good to remember what I did two days ago. :-)

OOC: Thanks Robin! I do good to remember a day ago! :) OK, so we need to kill off the captain and do something about these parasite/nanobug things...right>??
