: : : : : : James smiled a knowing smile. "Me too. All the swagger and the hubris and rumours, designed to keep people at a distance and keep me in a place where I can feel safe. Now though..." he paused for a moment, "We don't have to be alone."

: : : : : "Haven't you noticed, we're not alone we have each other," Tamar said as she turned to look up into his eyes.

: : : : James gave her one of the long, slow looks he reserved for moments when things that should have been obvious suddenly made themselves visible to him, and he smiled an honest little smile. "et qu'une belle chose c'est" he said as he kissed her nose affectionatly. "More wine petite?"

: : : Tamar wasn't sure what he had said just before he kissed her, but she her curiosity about it soon evaporated with the kiss. It was like waking up after a pleasant dream, not that Tamar had enjoyed many pleasant dreams.

: : : "Yes, but I would like something to eat with it other wise I'm liable to get drunk," Tamar said finally getting used to the bubbles that tickled her nose. The champagne was stronger than the Bajoran Spring Wine she was used to drinking and the effects of the drink may already be taking hold of the doctor as her eyes had developed a smoldering look and it seemed to her that the universe James created was beginning to spin a little faster.

: : "Mmm!" James intoned and looked thoughtful. "What's good in zero-gravity... Actually, let's say scrap the zero-g, and we can go back to my place and we can make use of a table and some real food. Well... replicated food... real enough I guess. Sound good?" he asked, surrupticiously trying to catch one of his orbiting shoes with a toe.

: "You mean I'm being invited into the inner sanctum, how could I refuse," Tamar said with a glimmer in her eye. James had a reputation that his quarters were spartan to say the least. But Tamar's personal experience with the COS, had shown her someone who was nothing like the rumors on ship had said he was. Their first night out they had ended up having dinner in her quarters after a Bajoran Cafe program went amok and nearly killed them. She was curious about how he lived. Her own quarters were mostly devoid of decoration and she was curious if his were the same.

James flailed a hand dramatically, "To the Eagle-Cave!" he pronounced, grinning. "Computer, end program." he commanded and the stars flickered away, returning the room to it's blank state. He picked up a fallen shoe and examined it closely, just to be sure, shook it upside-down before being satisfied and pulling it on. He held out an arm "Shall we?" as the doors opened back into the ship.
