: : : : : : : : : In the background James idly played with a yo-yo. "By the way" he said to no one in particular "Once the beam is down you guys are all to get back to the Vicky. I'm gonna stick around and see if I can find out whats going on." He looked at Henry "What d'you reckon? Can you disable it?"
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Lt. Eagle COS
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : "I don't know." He said, as he scanned the funnel to get an idea of what he was dealing with. "Also, I'm staying. You never know what could happen and if you need an engineer, better to have one here than on the Vicky."

: : : : :
: : : : : "Au contraire hank-a-doodle." James said walking the yo-yo along the floor and snapping it up into his hand. "Quirst wants everyone back on the ship once that thing is down, no exceptions. Well... except me. But I suppose there could be locked doors and as incredibly flexible as I am-" he glanced breifly at Tamar and winked "-I don't fancy my chances of crawling through debris-clogged tubes, so I guess you can stay." he conceded.

: : : : : Lt. Eagle COS
: : : :
: : : : Tamar gave an involuntary shiver at the thought of crawling through a small tunnel choked with debris. So far they had not encountered anything resembling a confining tunnel and she hadn't considered that would be a possibility as they continued to push into the heart of the station.
: : : :
: : : : But Tamar had a job to do and wouldn't let her own personal demons put others at risk.
: : : :
: : : : "If you two jokers think your going without me you're sadly mistaken," Tamar said. "If one of you gets hurt, it may be hard for the Vicky to beam you out of the core of the station even with the energy source disabled. And I don't want to have to tread through this grave yard twice to mount a rescue. "
: : : :
: : : : The determination on Tamar's face would have dissuaded anyone from trying to talk her out of it. Her mind was obviously made up and set in stone.

: : : M'raan had been the one to recommend sending an away team to the station originally. He would not willingly leave without completing the mission, which was to identify the station's builders. It would be unproductive to argue that with Lt. Eagle. He would wait to see what developed. The Captain's decision could change by the time Henry managed to shut down the power-draining beam.
: : :
: : : He said,"Assuming the station is stealing energy from the Victorious to 'awaken', how much more will it need? Can you identify a console or a display to tell us its power level?"
: : :
: : : Lt.j.g. M'raan, tactical
: :
: : The funnel appeared to be a holding tank which contained - well, it was full of the luminous goo that was the lighting source and the potential power source of the station.
: :
: : Further 'scans' would indicate that the faceless consoles around the funnel had little to no circuitry, however it did have 'veins' in it that were in appearance similar to data feeds, cabling and the like.

:
: !The goo is clearly the power distribution. It's a bit like the way plasma works on a starship but it appears to be more like blood than that. Going back too our earlier thory, doctor can you detect any sort of life signs?"
:
: He walked around and did another scan. He stopped and said "Mraan I think you should see this, I think this is some sort of console. He pressed it and said 'display power levels on this station'" it worked with the 'lifts' so why would it not work with the screen.
:
: Lt jg Patnick, CE

As Henry pressed the 'console' there was a flurry of movement on the console as something under the skin moved. Green lettering and what looked like a graphic curve appeared.

While uncertain, the curve looked to be about midland ..
