Bridge to Ready Room on USS Victorious

: Miessa would probably end up liking this captain. Exploits was definatly a good word to describe her actions. Three words that appeared in her file quite frequently were unconventional, sensitive, and loyal. Smiling lightly, she followed him to the readyroom and wondered if he had learned about the admiral's daughter yet.
:
: "I'm glad to be here sir. I haven't had a chance to review all the crew files yet but I'll get there."

Peyton gestured for her to take a seat on the sofa. He sat in a chair across from her. When he spoke, it was with a more buisiness like tone.

"Normally, I would ask you some questions about your file, get some clarifications of events on your own words, etc. But I have a problem aboard this ship and I will need your skills of overcome it."

He tented his hands and lowered his head almost as if in prayer. It was something Peyton did to clear his mind.

"Counselor, we have a Command crisis aboard the ship right now. I received orders from Starfleet Command to take over as CO of the Victorious ten days ago. When I arrived, I found the ship was still being served by her former CO. I have yet to find out why Starfleet sent me to relieve a sitting starship Captain, but as you may have surmised, it has had a corrusive effect of moral. I hate to say this, but only the fact that Captain Malory is suffering from an unknown medical condition, has prevented her from retaining her Command."

"Commander Caliva seemed overwhelmed when I came aboard. When the ship was attacked by the space station we are currently exploring, I invoked Starfleet Order 140 and assumed Command as the highest ranking officer aboard. I can't tell you how much this action may have eroded what little support I had when I first came aboard, but I did it in the best interest of the ship and her crew."

"To top it off, I have already run afoul of the ships chief security officer, Lt. Eagle. He's a good man, but his loyalty to Captain Malory is strong."

"So, Counselor. I'd like your advice. What would you suggest my next course of action to be?"
