: : Hello,
: :
: : This is a notice of a temporary transition period for our Official IRC channel, #star-fleet . In order to change our registration and the founder of the channel, we are going to have to be opless for 15 days. That means all our current ops except Andrew Wolfe have been de opped. Andrew will still have op status in case of emergencies, but for the most part, he will be using a generic nickname. Once the 15 days are over, we can make the changes needed to bring the channel to modern standards.
: :
: : Please note that even though the channel is opless in this period of time, all IRC and Star-fleet.com rules apply. Those that break those rules will still be reprimanded as normal, so no shenanigans! Any questions and/or concerns can be emailed to either one of the emails listed below:
: :
: : prez @ star-fleet.com - Andrew
: : idir @ star-fleet.com - Russell
: : irca @star-fleet.com - Kendra
: :
: : Thank you for your co-operation at this time.

: I'm just curious... why do we need to make these changes? Will this do something helpful for the IRC channel?

May i just kind of echo Lee's statement here, do we need to make these changes ?

Recently i made an IRC channel for a techincal exercise and i put security in, changed the topic, welcome message, etc (as i would do during a technical exercise) however i believe that was modern, so may i ask what is meant by the term "Modern Standards" and in what regards is the STF IRC channel being updated to meet these "Modern Standards" ?
