Discussion: Cadet Development on Starfleet Academy

: Just a quick two cents... Jack I think this is a great idea, but I think you're going about it backwards. Before we start discussing how to provide better feedback to Cadets, we need to define what Cadets should be learning in the first place... I'm really feeling like a broken record on this one, and maybe it got done since I've been gone and I'm just not finding it, but I really really (see, two reallys means it's important <G>) think the Academy needs to make up a course syllabus and actually define what we're teaching. Then it's transparent to everyone when the join (either as a Cadet, DH, CNS, XO, CO, or CMDT!) what they're getting into. What are the goals of your time here, what should expect to come out knowing? I don't think it would really be that hard to do, a lot has already been done by writing the PHB. Just extrapolate ideas from there into a syllabus structure (again, already partially done due to the what's it called booking system larry chose for the libarary) and add to it whatever else needs adding. Once you've defined what you're teaching and what the Cadets should be learning or know, then it's really easy to provide feedback. There's actual objectives to talk about, and while we all know those in our heads, the Cadets don't! And that's the key part. Lets give them a head start.

Actually that would be the Common Foundations Course and the Players Handbook which I have written but haven't been coded and put up yet:)
