Welcome to Starbase 277!

Starbase 277 is the hub of all Fleet 6 activities within star-fleet.com. If you want to know about Fleet 6 policies, if you have an idea for a Fleet wide initiative, if you want to remind us of a piece of Fleet 6 history of which we've forgotten, if you are a CO/XO/GM needing an LOA or similar, this is the place to come. Whether you are a JO or CO, ferengi or vulcan, doctor or engineer, GM or RPer, (or anything in between) Starbase 277 is the place for you! So come, pull up a seat, take the weight off your feet and join us in making Starbase 277 a useful asset to Fleet 6.

AWOL and LOA Policies
  • The following are the posting limits for each role playing area in Fleet 6.
  • The USS Europa has a fast posting limit of 2/3/4 days
  • The USS Olympic, USS Genesis and USS Vanguard have a standard posting limit of 3/5/7 days
  • The USS Merrimack and Oed V have a special posting limit of 5 days for all crew
  • If COs wish to change their ship posting limits, approval must be sought from the Fleet Commander. If it is the Fleet Commander's ship, approval must be sought from the Assistant Fleet Commander. The decision of the Fleet Commander or Assistant Fleet Commander is final.
  • COs and XOs are responsible for ensuring their crew members are within these posting limits.
  • Fleet Command Staff are responsible for ensuring the COs, XOs and GMs are within these posting limits.
  • Posting Limits for fleet 6 will be checked regularly against the Master Roster hosted by the Internet Department.
  • It is requested that crew members on LOA have LOA affixed to their character names so that the character does not show up on the Master Roster as AWOL
  • COs, XOs and GMs in fleet 6 needing LOAs are requested to post their LOA here to keep Fleet Command informed.
Character Promotions
  • All promotions on ships up to and including the rank of Lt Commander (or equivalent Marine Rank) is at the discretion of the ship's CO.
  • Promotions beyond the rank of Lt Commander (or equivalent Marine Rank) need to be confirmed by the FComm or the AFComm in the absence of the FComm, as required under FCOMM.
  • The CO can promote crew to the rank of Department Head, 2nd officer or Swing positions at their discretion. Where a member holds a CO, XO or DH position on a role playing area, all other characters held by that member on that role playing area must be JOs or Civilians.
Fleet Polices

Replacing COs, XOs and GMs

  • COs are responsible for finding replacement XOs and GMs, when vacancies occur, with the approval of the FComm. Normally this will be a rubber stamping of the CO's choice by the FComm, however checking with the FComm is necessary. The Rabid Giraffe will be unleashed if this is not followed.
  • The FComm is responsible for finding replacement COs, if vacancies occur, with the approval and agreement of the President.
  • An acting CO and XO may be appointed by the FComm should the CO and XO go on LOA at the same time. This is in place until the original officer returns or if a new one is appointed through the practices outlined in FCOMM.
  • FCOMM holds sway over these rules should there be any disagreement between them.

Fleet Chain of Command

  • It is hoped that where possible any issues can be sorted out between the people involved, however we do have a chain of command in the fleet when this can't occur.
  • Chain of Command in the Fleet goes JOs in order of seniority within fleet --> DHs in order of seniority within fleet --> XOs in order of seniority --> COs in order of seniority --> AFComm --> FComm. In all cases, the highest position held by a club member in the Fleet will be the time at which they become involved in the matter.
  • If the matter involves the AFComm, the AFComm is left out of the chain of command. If the matter involves the FComm, the FComm is left out of the chain of command and the AFComm makes the final determination. For Fleet matters, the FComm or AFComm's decision is final.
  • Where the matter is something that affects the club, the President and Vice President will be made aware of the issue as well.

Ship Chain of Command

  • JO --> DH --> 2nd Officer (if appointed) --> XO (or Lt Governor in the case of Oed V) --> CO (or Governor in the case of Oed V) --> AFComm --> FComm
  • If the matter involves a CO, XO, a character of the AFComm, or a character of the FComm, the relevant officer is left out of the chain of command. The decision of the highest officer involved (in most cases the CO or XO) is final.
  • Where the matter is something that affects the club, the President and Vice President will be made aware of the issue as well.
