Sickbay - First Day on the Job

Posted Oct. 29, 2018, 9:09 a.m. by Cadet Maximilian Woolley (Doctor) (Tim Olivieri)

It was 0730 and Max had just donned his uniform in anticipation of his first shift aboard the Challenger. Excited, he couldn’t sleep in and found that he was ready far too early to report. For the past 20 minutes or so, he sat on the edge of his bed. Idly playing with his fossil cube.

=^= “Computer, what is the current time?”

“It is 0733,” came the reply.

Max sighed and set his cube back on the stand beside his bed. Thankfully his roommate was already at work, otherwise Max either would have driven him crazy with constant time checks or driven himself a bit nuts without the frequent time checks. Standing up he adjusted his uniform and grabbed the white lab coat that had been issued to him before arriving at the Challenger. He walked toward sickbay somewhat slowly, trying not to show up too early but unable to occupy himself any longer.

Upon his arrival, he paused to look through the windowed hatch.

“Well, this is it, Doctor,” he said out loud in a barely audible murmur. Entering, he paused somewhat expecting someone to ask him what his business was in sickbay. But they didn’t. He pulled on the white lab coat and glanced around again. Once again, nobody seemed to notice him. But why would they? He not only looked like he belonged there but, in fact, he did.
