A woman in a science blues uniform enters the lounge that the pair are in and clears her throat slightly as she stands with her hands in front of her. “Captain Rhodes. Lieutenant Tavium. I am Lieutenant Natasha Ivanov. Commander Jackson’s personal assistant and head of long range listening. We are glad you have made it here for the little trick that the fleet captain is playing with the academy ship. The commander was wondering, however, if you wished to meet with him before the formal reception?” The blond was a striking Russian figured, tall and lithe, chiseled figures. Her accent was slight, but definitely from the frozen north. Upon her lips is a warm a supportive smile.

Nijix’s head turned to Commander’s personal assistant when she heard the word ‘trick’ used in the conversation referring to her future crew. At first, she thought she misheard it. However, she dismissed that when she repeated the conversation in her head. The parts of her imagination that represented her past lives showed their own outrage in various forms. Most dominant were Raji’s which she easily agreed with.

Before answering, she glanced at the CO to observe his reaction to what she saw as an abuse of authority. This gave her a moment to cool before deciding to speak. She wanted to meet the Fleet Admiral who thought it was a good idea to haze cadets, especially those she would be protecting and assisting their progression into official Starfleet officers.

For a moment, Felix looked up at the woman as various thoughts, and very slight traces of emotion, flickered across his face. When he did speak, it was with a very formal and professional tone that would have been entirely different to his relaxed and casual conversation with his Chief of Security just moments ago.

“I’m sorry Lieutenant, I thought I heard you say that the Fleet Captain is playing a trick on my ship” he put extra emphasis on the word ‘my’. “If that is indeed the case, I do believe that both myself and my Security Chief here should like to be present as he explains that use of Starfleet resources and time.” Felix came easily to his feet, and adjusted his cuffs as he gave the Russian sounding woman a slight smile. “Please lead us to him Lieutenant, I think we had better get to the bottom of this before the reception.”

The woman shrugged. “One doesn’t become a flag officer by breaking the rules,” the woman explained before beckoning the pair to follow her towards the exit. Assuming the pair followed along she made her way through the winding corridors of the station and eventually to a turbo lift.

Taking the lift to a floor she led the pair up a small ramp at the center of the station and up into the operations center. There she made a sharp corner and pushed the button next to the door. “This Commander Jackson’s office. Do excuse the mess you will likely find he isn’t as organized as one would like,” the young officer’s eye twitched as he relayed her personal annoyance with her boss. “Oh, and he is a hugger,” she adds as an after thought.

That served to bring a rise to Felix’s own eyebrow, and he glanced between Ivanov and Tavium as if they might both be in on some kind of joke. Felix was not a hugger.

“Well then, this should be interesting” he deadpanned, then when the door to the office opened, he graciously allowed Ivanov to lead the way in.

‘No, you just become puppets to your ambition rather than serve your command,’ Nijix could hear Raji snap in her head, instinctively fighting her inner flinching.

Ignoring her imagination, she leaned beside the table and opened her tote. She quickly slid her PADD inside as she lifted upright, leaving her seat behind. Bag now shouldered, she slid the chair back underneath the table. She followed her Captian and the Russian woman in to the turbolift.

It was comforting to confirm she wasn’t the only one that didn’t agree with a high ranking officer playing an unneeded and wasteful prank on the ship’s crew. When fully in, she caught the last two statements causing her to glance at Lieutenant Natasha Ivanov.

‘I wonder how far Starfleet’s standards have fallen lately?’ Raji commented gruffly.

All Nijix could do was bow her head and pinch her fingers across her nose bridge, inhaling deeply.

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

Commander Jackson’s office wasn’t as bad as his lieutenant had led the pair to believe. He had PaDDs stacked on his desk along with a wall of books that were not exactly orderly nor arranged in a manner that was easy to retrieve them, but they were books after all. Antiques from a bygone era but clearly something the man enjoyed collecting.

When the trio walked in the Commander arose and approached them with a smile. Standing close to six feet six inches tall (about 198 centimeters), and likely as big around, he gave off the appearance of a bowling ball with a great white beard. He wore the red of command but a quick scan through the titles on the book case revealed he was a scientist by nature.

After having crossed the floor with a deceptive speed, sure enough hugged Tavium first and then held out his hand to Rhodes. “My friends! Thank you for coming and bringing the lens with you! It is such a fragile piece of equipment had it been tampered with it surely would have broken!” He continued to grin as broadly as one can, “I feel as if I must apologize for Fleet Captain K’hal’s duplicity. He is half Romulan you know, and instantly suspicious of, well, everyone but he does care so very much about the cadets. Any trials or tribulations he put them through, I assure you was not for his own amusement.” He paused and laughed loudly, “To be fair I don’t think he has a sense of humor.”
